SOOO MUCH STUFFFFF
HELLO, I am officially rubbish at writing this blog with any sort of schedule in mind. I last left you just after my return from the summer holidays. "What has happened to me since then?" I hear you ask. I ONLY GOT MY SECOND BELT WOOOOOO!
It's strange being second belt. I don't feel deserving off it but apparently no one feels prepared for there next belts, so that's normal. It is also weird when Mestre divides the class and I am in the 'second belt and above' category now :O
This year, capoeira-wise, I want to start training with more instructors etc. I know our group has quite a few new monitors, instructors and professors after our batizado and many of them have classes in the area. I feel like this will improve my capoeira as I will be taught to see different peoples perspectives on the game. As well as this, everyone always has little tips to help improve certain moves that you may have not thought of before.
Another goal of mine is to start attending the acrobatic classes more. I am so bad at going to these! I have already gone to one so far though so that's a good start! I have no courage to do acrobatic movements but I know this fear is something I desperately need to get over as it is preventing my game from progressing.
Finally (for now), I want to start using social media more, capoeira-wise. When I first started, I struggled to find any information on peoples journeys with Capoeira and that is the main thing that inspired me to do this blog. I know Capoeira is an amazing sport/ culture/ life-style and the internet is a great way to tell lots of people about it. I just need to stop being lazy and write more!
Following on from this, I also want to start using our Capoeira society's twitter page more in the new year. Make sure you all follow and retweet @ljmu_capoeira on twitter!! Lets continue to spread the word about capoeira to the masses!!
I also have some awesome news for you guys about a new venture CDO North West is getting into! We are starting our own social enterprise called 'Capoeira for All'. From what I can gather, we are raising money to create a non-for-profit organization. The idea behind this organization is we will be using capoeira to give back to the community. We would be able to do specific focus group classes such as early-morning, women only, people recovering from drug abuse etc. I know that capoeira is a great escape for everyone, no matter what there walk of life, so to me this sounds amazing. We are currently in the process of applying for grants and raising money for our own premises and to get the paper work on track etc. The website should be going live for this soon. I will update you with more details as I know them!
I also have to tell you guys something else, on a slightly less exciting note for you, I HAVE A BOYFRIEND :) we have been going out 13 weeks and one day or 3 months depending on how on count it. You are probably think about how this relates to this blog... He is a capoeirista! I couldn't have asked for more ;) He trained in London and has moved up to Liverpool to study. It is great being so close to someone who understands your hobbies so intimately. I've always known capoeira was amazing. I never thought when i signed up for the taster session at the university freshers fair that it would lead to me finding love!
Have an amazing new year fellow Capoeiristas and i shall write to you soon! Bejos.xxx
