THE LOVERS OF THE FALLEN TOWER SPECULATION
Here we go!
So, to start off with- I’m technically wrong in that it’s going to be three cards per episode. It’s going to be two officially, not counting the Fool card.
I sort of realized it with the @rillaofexile speculation, but the Fool card - or the person - can show up at any point in the deck, because you can always start somewhere new. Which, given that I think the bat-thing is Olala(? Unless Arum made a new creature), we’re probably going to see her this episode. Which means we’re going to see Marc, and - hopefully - Talfryn! So I’m going to say I’m technically wrong, but practically right in spirit. I’m also going to have to edit my expectations for the season, but I’m going to wait on that until we get our poster for the 3rd ep., because i don’t want to have to do it a third time, and by that point, we’ll have a better idea of the season and what it’ll be like.
Now, while I do think we’re also going to be seeing Arum, Damien, and Rilla this episode(if those tiny figures are them- I could also see Caroline, Quan-yii, and Angelo), I don’t think the ‘Lovers’ are referring to them? Arum is of Titan’s blooms, Damien is a Knight of the Crown, and Rilla is the exile.
Instead, I think it’s going to be referring to whoever lived in that tower - those are the two that are going to represent the emperor and the empress, whoever they were.
Also, I wanted to address a theory going around where the tarot cards numbers are in reference to the “in-universe”
To which I want to say....Maybe? But I’m rather doubtful, if only because, Olala and Sister Teallay (whom in all speculation henceforth shall be dubbed Sister Tea, because I have no idea how to spell her name(not a patron)) did not mention any sort of numbers associated with the card? Also, we don’t have the full “deck” as it were, and even if we did, what their symbols might not transfer over into what we think of when we think of said things. Point being- I’m still going off of what our major arcana is, because based the styling of the ‘posters’ and the characters involved, it’s clear that they’re trying to establish some sort of parallel here. I mean, the Kite’s the magician, Sister Tea is the High Priestess, we’re going to see an emperor and an empress next episode - I don’t think that the cards are referring to our cast at this point, but to other characters we’re going to see this season.
Which, i think we’re going to see a DIFFERENT set of lovers in the episode after this one. And I’m getting INCREASINGLY worried about the ever-expanding number of towers we’re getting this season, ESPECIALLY if the Tarot trend continues, because at some point, we’re getting that Tower card, and something is going to Fall. And a tower only has truly fallen when it’s gone, I don’t care if it’s being called a Fallen tower.
As a final note- the location of the tower has to be at the edge of the world. And if it’s not Quanyii there, who’s trying to find some monster parts, it’s Rilla, who wants to find out what happened to Pix and David all those years ago. (which @ernmark already mentioned.)
So Td;lr: Olala good. Expanding the world and cast is great. A fallen tower that can be still recognized as a tower, is a tower that can fall further.
