“Please don’t let go.”
@intelsought
“I have to, Pidge.”
The situation is fairly urgent, but he manages to keep his voice as level as possible for her. There’s enough stress, enough responsibility thrust upon her little shoulders and the last he wants to do is add to that mountain.
There is no way to make this less scary for her, or even for himself, but he doesn’t intend to die here today.
He’ll come back. Again.
“C’mon, let go of me! I promise I’ll make my way back here. I swear it.” he grits out, trying to wiggle his hand out of her grip. She has to get to her Lion, and he would more than likely survive the fall - but getting her to let go of him? Nearly impossible.
“Katie, you have to go now. Let go of my hand, please. Everything is going to be okay.”
He flashes her an apologetic smile as he inches his fingers closer and closer to freedom. Just a little more...
“Go be awesome, little sis. I’ll see you again soon.”
And he does survive the fall, for all of thirty six seconds after impact.
