Explaining some of my httyd au.

Httyd takes place in another world that isn’t ours, I haven’t drawn out the exact map of this alternate earth, but I’ll get to it.

The Forever Isles are a large collection of islands deep in the sea, hundreds or maybe thousands of isles and archipelagos, with every possible kind of biome. It’s ruled by the Foreverwing, an alpha dragon, and protected by the Guardian Riders.

The Guardian Riders began from multiple Viking tribes who crash landed on the outer isles, and the dragons of the isles picked up the Vikings and took them to the Foreverwing. Seeing the Foreverwings gentle nature, they decided to live in peace among the dragons. As generations passed, they changed from simply living with the dragons and began to befriend, ride and protect the dragons and their home of the isles.

Soon enough all the tribes merged into one, one mass tribe with villages scattered all across the isles, lead by the High Guardian, who lives on the island across from the Foreverwings island. The High Guardians home consists of a living space and an underground lab/library, which contains three thousand years worth of research on the dragons of the Forever Isles.

Toothless isn’t the last Nightfury. 3,500 years ago they were already dropping in population, and flocks of them fled to the isles, slowly evolving into subspecies as they settled in different environments. When Grimmel began hunting the Nightfury’s faster and more aggressively, they became nearly extinct outside of the isles, as Grimmel never knew of the isles existence.

After the dragons of Berk went to the Hidden World, the dragons of the Isles and the Guardian Riders stayed, as they were loyal to the Foreverwing they’d been following and protecting for thousands of years.
