Second Shoot
Here are my scanned negatives from my second shoot. I think overall they came out a lot better than my first image. This mostly has to do with the subject matter of the photos as in my first shoot I was thinking about technique more than composition. I still used 400 ISO colour negative film for this shoot so was hoping to create similar aesthetics to the first shoot.
The first image came out black because when I was putting the film in I accidentally went passed the first image!! I was too scared to take the back off the camera in case it exposed the next film so I just carried on. My second black image I think happened because I may have left the lens cap on... Oops.
Overall: Pretty happy with this shoot. And there are many images I will be able to work with.
second shoot review
From editing my pictures from the second shoot I discovered that still some layers in the pictures do not line up or mix in together as the lighting and weather kept changing. To overcome this next time I will make sure I have enough time to take all the images I need to make up one image before the lighting conditions on the location change. Also I will put makers down in the images to make them line up.
Some of the compositions are not working with not all of the shadows working or being in the images. I will make sure the images contain all the shadows and that they are in the right places by changing the times of day I take the images. I need to consider where the subjects are in respect to their background as in the bike image a tree is out of their head. I need the background and subject to work seamlessly together. I will consider changing some of my images backgrounds to address this issue. I feel because of these issues the images look unprofessional and could be improved a lot. To do this I will decide which pictures have potential then re – shoot them and really focus on getting them right. I will consider lighting and backgrounds to make them work together to create a light fell which I want, so the images feel realistic. I still want my images to have a lighter feeling than they do now.
This picture it just too light and over exposure because of the location it was taken with the large light source behind the subject. Even so I do not like the composition of it, and I not sure if it works as a strong idea so I will no long explore it.
I experimented with taking all the body out of this image but I felt it did not work. I took out only the tummy and it seemed to have a really strong impact so I will continue with this idea.
I tried out some images in front of blinds but the location was too small and dark. The images looked unprofessional and did not work or look good. So I will not continue with this idea.
I took two images from different angles for the bike riding scene. I did this because I wanted to see if the straight on angle was more effective in this style of photography. After editing them both, I felt the side on angle worked best as with the straight on angle I could not see all the bike, so I could not remake it all. Also the side on fits the location and frame better.
I tried out the bed picture several times on different materials to see which worked best. I felt the image on top of the quilt cover worked best so I will shoot on that material from now on. It links well into the theme I was trying to show and looks most like a bed with the quilt on.
