@secondhnd // phoenix, spring carnival
the allure of a carnival was enough to entice ayanna into leaving the house. there was something about funnel cakes, shoddy rides, and almost impossible games that she simply couldn't resist. they'd just finished playing some ridiculous game where they had to hit the target until it fell in order to win, and lost, swearing to themselves it had to be rigged. the next reasonable step was to treat herself to a funnel cake, strawberry topping and all. they made their way to one of the large carts in the center of the grounds and admired the lights and sounds of laughter around them. she'd have to remember to take pictures before the night died down so she could look back at them later. something of a sentimental being, she couldn't help but want to capture the essence of the community enjoying the space together.
before they made it to the cart they'd had their eye on, they spotted a familiar face in the crowd. what were the odds that she'd actually run into him again? she thought for a moment that she could pretend she hadn't seen him, but what would the fun be in that? funnel cake pushed lower on the list, they made their way over and walked up behind him, tapping his shoulder. "boo!" she called out, smile on her face and waving for phoenix to see when he turned around.
