Add a hint of depth and richness to your classic chocolate chip cookies with a secret ingredient. These cookies are soft, chewy, and oh-so-delicious.
Ingredients: 1 cup all-purpose flour. 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened. 1/2 cup granulated sugar. 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed. 1 large egg. 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract. 1/2 teaspoon baking soda. 1/4 teaspoon salt. 1 cup chocolate chips. 1/2 cup chopped nuts optional. 1/4 cup secret ingredient e.g., instant coffee granules.
Instructions: Preheat the oven to 350F 175C. In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Add the egg and vanilla extract to the mixture, and beat until well combined. Dissolve the secret ingredient instant coffee granules in a teaspoon of hot water, and add it to the batter. Mix well. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips and chopped nuts if using, distributing them evenly throughout the dough. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the cookies are golden brown around the edges. Remove from the oven and allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
