SECTION 230 HEARING UPDATE!!!!🌐⁉️
Update: The livestream was a bunch of back and forth about Section 230.
-Some of the experts are talking about what is, isn't covered, what should be covered, etc.
-Some were talking about reforming/repealing it, not understanding that right now it is fine and that changing, it would cause Section 230 to collapse/change the internet as a whole.
-Some were in support of repealing it/changing it, claiming it's "Big Techs fault" and they should be held accountable.
-Some were like "But the children" which is a bs excuse! (Parents, watch your damn kids online! The internet is not a babysitter!)
- Ted Cruz the host is not a huge supporter of section 230 he did point out he was for some of it talking about how he has protected free speech in the past ,but it seems like he wants to reform it.
(I could go on and on about the stupid things they talked about ,but these were the main points I noticed.)
In summary, it was just a big ass mess of them wanting to repeal/reform it stating absolutely stupid reasons, not understanding Section 230 is the backbone of the internet. Changing/repealing it would essentially kill the internet! It honestly was infuriating listening to some of them!
The repeal/changing of Section 230 would also affect people outside of the US, so nobody is safe! A repeal of Section 230 would impact people worldwide by forcing global platforms to aggressively censor user generated content, delete reviews, and potentially close, limiting speech. Many major social media platforms are based in the US its repeal would force them to apply restrictive moderation policies globally!
