The other day during a break at jazz band practice a few of us were sitting together and started assessing the personalities of various sections in our band and so far we got:
Flutes: Bitchy little perfectionists who act like they're all best friends but secretly hate each other and would not hesitate to kill any one of their section mates if it meant getting a better part
Clarinets: A completely random rag-tag group of people who cuddle on the band bus a lot and just hang around the hallways all day doing homework together and exchanging racist jokes
Trombones: All incredibly weird
Drummers: Stoners
Saxes: Incredibly laid-back to the point that there's almost not even anything interesting about them
Trumpets: Cute and hilarious and LOUD
... I'd say that's pretty accurate so far :P
Hahaha AWWWW the other day in band our director was talking about this song that he had handed out in every-day band the day before (at my school you can either take band every day or every other day and most juniors and seniors like me are only in every other day) and he was saying how he'd explained a lot of nuances about it to the people who were there but that he didn't feel like repeating himself. His point was that we should ask our every-day section members for help if we needed it but what he actually said was "I want you to lean on the every-day band students next to you--" and as soon as he said that I scooted right up against Scott, the sophomore who sits next to me, and laid my head against his shoulder and I glanced up and saw that Conor, the kid who sits on the other side of him, had done the same exact thing and so the three of us were basically just sitting there in the middle of class cuddling and Conor and I had these mischievous little gleams in our eyes and Scott was yelping "I DON'T THINK THIS IS WHAT HE MEANT" but still giggling hysterically and it was actually the cutest thing XD
i literally have the best marching band section ever. i'm section leader this year and i've been trying really hard to be friends with them (which is difficult for me bc horrid at socialization) but one of my section members just texted me and she was like "is it okay if i make you my woman crush wednesday?!" and i'm crying bc she's so nice and oh gosh you guys people actually like me?? i don't know how to react??
