i think it’s about time to have internet privacy and security resources like this be more well known, some of the information in the links i’m going to be posting is easy basic stuff but some of it gets complicated so it’s likely worth at least a skim for anyone

with the united states government constantly trying to undermine (or in the most recent case with EARN IT, likely attempt to encourage companies to weaken or outright remove) encryption in popular communication programs, and other countries considering similar things frequently as well, it’s important stuff to know at this point

another good internet privacy and security site, this one is more of a list of resources and tools but it has plenty of information to read and explain the problem behind the “but i have nothing to hide” argument as well

Im sorry to bother you, I actually want help about the secure settings in a blog... I have 2 blogs, I tried but the secure settings only works for one of them. Any ideas of why this is happening? sorry, and thank you u.u

it’s not a bother, i’m happy to try and help out!the first thing to do is go into the actual code of your theme that isn’t working and see if anything is still labeled ‘http’

mine’s red since i already did it and so it can’t find anything left without the s

clicking “All” will fix all of them, then click to update and save, but don’t close this page yet! just in case the theme you’re using might not work this way, go open your tumblr page in a new tab and see if it’s working there. if not, go back to the code tab and ctrl+z to undo all the changes and resave it to fix it back. it also might not be a bad idea to save the code in a .txt document before you edit it, just in case.

also, make sure you have it set to only run your page through ssl in your blog’s main settings page (which is in a different setting page, for some reason)

if the code editing worked, doing this shouldn’t hurt your page’s appearance
