Steeply inclined, due to intensive folding, fluvial conglomerate beds of an Early Pleistocene age (ca. 1 Ma). Large-scale cross-bedding suggesting migrating bars within a river channel. Probable products of a braided river system near the Japan Sea coast at that time. A glove for scale.

Thin alternation of fine-grained sandstone and siltstone beds under a marine shelf environment. Preservation of such thin beds means lack of benthic organisms, presumably due to anoxic environments, famine, or something else. Pleistocene. Scale increment 5 cm.

A series of lenticular layers of soft-rock pebbles, or mud clasts, suggests periodic disturbance of sea bed by large-scale storms which resulted in thick sandstone deposition. Tilted to the left due to post-deposition tectonic deformation. Pleistocene. Scale increment 5 cm.
