Celebration of Hope

         The photo you see is 600+ volunteers getting ready and doing a brief orientation to guide them through the next few hours where they will pack cucumber and tomato seeds to ship to Zimbabwe. 

How many seeds?

Well, we put 1/4 TSP into a packet. 5 packets and instructions in a bag. 

Bag into box.

300 bags per box.

Each table, 26 of them, packed about 2.5 boxes per shift.

We packed more than 20,000 bags to be shipped per 2 hours. 

So yesterday, we packed 40,000 all together.

CRAZY right?

Why are seeds important?

Of the seeds they sent last year, people on average, tripled their income. They had enough food to eat. (Each bag will feed between 6-8 people for a YEAR). 

What happens when your income is tripled? Getting healthcare, other food, and going to school just might be possible. 

CRAZY right?

CRAZY AWESOME.

And this was just ONE day. They have been doing this essentially every day for two weeks.

Say what you will about mega-churches, but when they can utilize their resources for good, they are a POWERFUL WORLD-CHANGING force.

So, it was lots of fun, I met lots of great people, I saw the power of 1200 volunteers in an 6 hour period. I was encouraged by the great things that they are doing and the direction they are going with Compassion, Mercy, and Justice. I am excited to see how this church continues to be a force of good in the world and community.
