[ ♞ - a time they’ve felt powerful ]
In his main verse, Pierre doesn’t really feel powerful at any given time. As a boy, he remembered being trapped in his father’s strict parenting. As a mage in the Circle, he certainly didn’t have any power. Pierre really doesn’t feel powerful as an apostate in the mountains either. He knows that the forest and mountains are dangerous and require a healthy amount of respect in order to survive. Not surprisingly, all of this has made Pierre a rather humble person.
Pierre’s Inquisitor verse, however, is a bit different. As the Inquisitor, he is suddenly given a lot of power and responsibility. Now he isn’t just an apostate ranger in the Hunterhorns anymore. He’s a powerful mage leader of an ancient organization whose goal is to stop the Breach. Pierre is commanding armies, controls spies, and is even ranked among the nobles. Despite this surge of newfound power, Pierre really tries hard to remain close to the common folk and be humble.
Chains and Whips - {Closed}

Inquisitor Pierre Bertillon. He nearly laughed at the new title he was given. Staring at the window, he watched as the trees nearby rustled as a gentle breeze caressed them. Only a few weeks ago, he was resting underneath trees very similar to those, surviving on what the forest provided.
Now he felt like the bear from his childhood. In Val Royeuax, he remembered the dancing bear that was forced to entertain the nobles for a festival. It moaned and growled but the beast knew that it was futile. The chains were too tight and the whips too painful.
For Pierre, the chains were in the form of a duty too great for anyone to bear and the whips were demons pouring from the Fade. Pulling at the collar of the fine leather jerkin wrapped around his neck, he realized that it too was another chain. Fancy clothes for even fancier parties. It made no sense.
"How am I doing, Seeker?" he asked, feeling her presence behind him.
