Progress

So, I've gotten up the courage required to ask Enforcer Hookshot to train me as his Neophyte. If I'm going to be a legislacerator, book learning alone can only take me so far, and he's the best person to ask to be my mentormentor. So, someday - eventually, when I've been judged and found ready - I'll be a legislacerator too. In the meantime, I've got a three-page list of exercises to do, plus a minimum of two new specibi to find (one non-lethal and one ranged) and I need to talk to every coplayer in my session and both practice strifing with them and learn as much about their style of strifing as possible. I also need to learn fighting off groups as well as fighting one-on-one. None of this will be easy, but some of it will be less difficult than other parts. The two specibi are going to be relatively easy to obtain, or at least the cards for them will be - although that's more due to being able to fog the Time player and skip back to when the quests needed to get a new specibus were available, as well as (if needed) fogging someone else and completing as many quests as I have to in order to get a second card. Learning the strifing styles of my coplayers is also...well, it won't be easy. But it will give me ARC and it fits with my Role, so even if it weren't something my Adjudictator had instructed me to do, it would be something I might get a recommendation to do anyways. Group fighting and one-on-one...well, I've survived this long. If I didn't know the basics of both of these, I wouldn't have. But "the basics" aren't enough, and he wants proof that I know how to do both to the standard he requires. The first performance review is due in thirteen days, twelve hours. The first practical examination is in two perigees. Wish me luck.

Cyma: Train with Hookshot.

It takes sweeps. It's mostly done over the IRC and through video tutorials. Neither of you ever expects that you'll be able to pursue a criminal, like you would have in the old days.And, most likely, you won't.But when someone comes on, trying to bully their way around using the hemospectrum, you're able to use what he's taught you in order to get them to back down.And when the time comes to build the justice system for Can Town...well, he's taught you very well.

Cyma and Hookshot end up in the same session together. A quest requires she admit a Very Personal Secret to him; she admits that she's a hybrid.

You recognized the name when you rolled into the same session, Zeimah Dalyce, an old memory from when you dealt with the Captain. The first time you see her, she is deferential, and you ask if there is something she wanted to tell you. The tall troll in front of you hesitates, and only states that she would like your help in learning how to be a legislacerator. You tell her that you will expect nothing less than perfection from any student under you, and that the training begins now.

Months down the line, outside of the time of the two of you have set for the lessons she asks to speak to you in person. You meet her in her homefree, and she tells you her secret. She’s a hybrid, and she needed to tell you.

You don’t say anything at first, just standing there, looking at her. She remains composed, she took to that well enough. You tell her that she has decided to live by choice and not chance. Making changes and not excuses. Self-esteem, not self-pity. That deserves respect, and she has it from you, and anyone who says otherwise is not worth the time it takes to listen to them.

You don’t know what she expected. But she seems grateful. You think Evelyn would be proud.

Loyalist problems

You have always known that there would be those that hold on to the old order and customs. You give the same messages to all your co-players as you usually do, it is to your surprise that the young human shows you the wounds left by the other trolls. He explains that he managed to escape from them, that they thought he needed to be culled.

You tell him you will take care of it. They will listen to you, you are an adult legislacerator after all.

And if they do not? You give a vicious grin as you contemplate that scenario. If they do not, you will persuade them, you always enjoyed that part of the job.
