Not only that, but Terezi was glued to Dave’s side half the time. He’d be lying if he said he wasn’t jealous, but he would never tell them that. Oddly, Dave hadn’t seen her either. Or Kanaya. Or Rose. Or anyone. What was she doing? Karkat got up, deciding he’d go look for Gamzee instead, since he had nothing better to do. Maybe he had seen her? It was a big stretch, but maybe, just maybe.
Leaving his block, he went in search of his best friend. He went deep in the deepest part of the meteor, seeking his moirail. Finally when it seemed like all was hopeless, he heard it. A honk. This still sent chills through his body since Gamzee went on his killing rampage. Karkat didn’t think he’d ever get over a honk without getting tense. Although the honk scared him, this was a good sign. It meant that the jestery asshole was around. He walked towards the sound in search of his friend. Another honk, and then another. Oh good, he was getting close. Closer. Something seemed different about these honks somehow … but what? Karkat had a bad feeling as the honks got louder. Then he heard something he had no expected. Terezi’s voice.
Her voice was full of bitterness. He couldn’t make out what she was saying, but he knew tell it wasn’t pretty. What is she doing alone with Gamzee down here? Was the only thing Karkat Vantas could think. Thoughts spun around in his head as he approached the room he heard the two. For some reason he felt dizzy and a little nauseas. I shouldn’t be here. I need to go. He said to himself. He wanted to run away, but he didn’t know why. Another part of him protested, told him to see what the fuck was going on.
“Fuck you, sis.” Was the first thing he could hear clearly. It was Gamzee, obviously. The words were growled out with hatred. A snarl from Terezi was all that he heard next, then silence. A few honks. Rustling. Oh GOD. Karkat’s eyes grew wide as he realized what was happening. A few audile grunts from his moirail could be heard as he wrestled with Terezi’s clothes. Cackling laughter suddenly filled the room. Terezi’s laughter. Karkat’s heart ached. “What if Karkat saw you, Gamzee? What if he kn-” Her voice was cut off followed by more growling. “Shut up. Shut up.” Strained cackling. “Some moirail you are,” she managed to choke out. Struggling. “I SAID SHUT UP.” Gamzee roared and he heard Terezi gasping for air.
More crippling silence. Why didn’t he just leave already? Why didn’t he – moaning. Moaning from Terezi. Moaning from pleasure. His heart quickened and he felt himself flushed with a variety of feelings. Betrayal, hate, anger, and oddly enough, horniness. His matesprit was in there fucking his moirail. Or was the other way around? Or were there even ways? Besides, she wasn’t his matesprit. He wanted her to be, oh god, he wanted her to be so bad. Another stifled moan. Gamzee grunts. Karkat’s head spun and he felt like passing out. But he did something he didn’t know he was going to. He did something totally fucking insane.
“WHAT. THE. FUCK.” Karkat yelled as he burst into the room. The two’s bodies were stuck to each other, hot and sweaty from the act and wrestling before. Their bodies stopped moving as soon as he yelled. Terezi’s mouth was turned down in a melancholy frown. Gamzee could only stare up in horror at his moirail. “IS THIS WHAT YOU TWO HAVE BEEN DOING?? SNEAKING AROUND THIS WHOLE FUCKING TIME BEHIND MY BACK!?” Karkat’s rage filled the room, and everything was silent. “Karkles?” Terezi could only whimper. This seemed to snap Gamzee back to reality. The two’s naked bodies stayed glued together. “Hey, bro, this isn’t …” “IT ISN’T WHAT?! YOU TWO AREN’T HATE FUCKING? THEN WHAT IS THIS? IT’S OBVIOUSLY NOT FLUSHED.” Karkat’s eyes passed over Terezi. She was crying. Tears ran slowly out of her burned eyes. His heart faltered, but his rage stayed true.
“Get yourself together. Fucking disgusting.” He kicked their rumpled clothes towards them and stormed out of the room. Before he knew it, he was crying. Red tears streamed down his gray face as he sprinted down the hallways. How could they do this to him? Terezi – okay, maybe he could understand but Gamzee? His fucking best friend? HE KNEW HOW HE FELT ABOUT TEREZI. Why … Sobs wracked his chest as he just kept running and running. Kanaya? Where was Kanaya? Did it matter? Nothing could fix this fucking wreck. Nothing. His heart was in shambles. Terezi. Terezi. Terezi. Dave he could handle, Dave he could maybe understand but him? Gamzee?
Question filled his mind as the anger melted away into tears. How long had this been going on? How long did they have black feelings toward each other? Karkat’s eyes swelled from the crying and he felt like killing something. Karkat didn’t even know where the fuck he was; somewhere in this godforsaken place. Minutes passed like hours as he cried and tried to work everything out in his mind. Finally he heard someone. “You weren’t supposed to find out.” A raspy voice said. It was her. You didn’t even have to look to know. “Well, I did, so that’s fucking botched,” he replied angrily. She sat down next to him quietly. “Are you mad?” She whispered. “Mad?! Oh man, Terezi, I am FUCKING peachy, you know what?” He spoke the words with fury, but his voice cracked when he spoke her name. “Why?” Was all he whispered.
“I couldn’t give you a straight answer if I wanted to,” she said softly. Karkat looked at her finally. Her cheeks were wet from the tears she had wept. Her shirt was slightly wrinkled and her glasses were askew. He had an urge to right them, and brought his hands up to do so, but caught himself. No. Not this time. Terezi seemed to sense this and frowned her pouty frown. “Karkles?” She whispered, hurt in her voice. But he didn’t listen. He got up and left. Walked away as fast as could without running. After a bit, he slowed down to a largo pace. Karkat just wanted to walk forever and ever and ever. As he wallowed, he abruptly bumped into something. No. Someone. Gamzee looked down at him, a sad grin on his face. “Hey, Karbro. About Terezi and I-” Karkat glared up at him. “Don’t ever fucking speak her name. Don’t you dare. I will fucking kill you.” He then bumped his moirail – were they even moirails now? – and kept walking on. Gamzee’s grin faded and anger flashed in his eyes, but it quickly went back to sadness.
Karkat found himself next to Rose’s book collection, but no one was around. He slumped down on a pile of books, ignoring how uncomfortable it was a cried. And cried. And cried. His relationships were totally fucked up now, and it was all his fault. Everything came back to him. He was to blame for everything. Why couldn’t he stop fucking things up?
