Armed lone ranger robs convenience store

KOTA KINABALU, March 28:  

A man took more than just cash when he robbed a convenience store in Segama here yesterday afternoon.

The suspect, who is still at large, fled with a cell phone belonging to the store’s staff, a bottle of liquor and 45 boxes of cigarettes.

City Police chief ACP Jauteh Dikun confirmed the incident, adding the identity of the suspect, believed to be in his 20s, was captured by a closed-circuit television camera at the store.

In the 12.40pm incident, the suspect, who wore a dark-coloured cap, entered the store carrying an item wrapped in black plastic bag, believed to be a weapon.

“He then demanded the store assistant to hand over the money and threatened that he would hurt them if they refuse.

“Losses was estimated at RM1,300. We are working hard to trace the lone ranger suspect,” said Jauteh, adding no one was hurt in the incident.
