"I just don't know what I'm doing wrong."
"Sam, you're overreacting. This kind of things happen." Molly tries to comfort him, and then he notices something unfamiliar on a screen. Molly takes something into her arms.
"Cat?" he asks, raising his eyebrows in surprise. "You got yourself a cat?"
"Yes, I got myself a cat" Molly repeats after him. "I'm going to be an old maid with a cat," she kisses the pet and starts to scratch its belly affectionately. "I decided so."
"I'm the one with failed relationship, not you" Sam notices bitterly, but new thought comes into his mind. "What's the name?"
"I'm still considering my options" she says and looks again to the camera. "Does he look like Billy to you?" She asks with an evil smirk.
Sam rolls his eyes, but then smiles back. "Billy was much hotter" he says. "You find it entertaining, don't you? Brining me down. You suck as a friend."
"I'm an amazing friend" Molly lets her cat go and leans on a desk a little. "It's been three weeks, Sam. You need to start living again. We all go through bad break-ups, you were lucky enough to avoid that since, like, what, your junior year? Well, welcome to the real word. Relationships doesn't always end with cotton candy and happy people on both ends. It usually hurts." She pauses for a while. "Usually when it means something, it hurts" she corrects herself. "Billy was important to you. And you were important to him. You both cared deeply about each other. But it didn't work. That happens. So it's time to move on."
"Maybe I'm just tragic case" Sam lets out a little sigh. "I mean, it never worked out with girls, probably because they were girls..."
"Sammy, you were a kid when you were dating girls" Molly reminds him. "That's not the best reference mark."
"I just want to fall in love" Sam goes on, ignoring her remark. "Wake up next to somebody. Have breakfast together. Go back home from work knowing he's there... Or even have sex with someone I trust so much I don't need a condom. Yet I can't get any of those things."
Molly laughs a little. "You're not like fifty" she says. "You still have a lot of time to look for these things. And you are going to find them. And it's going to work this time. I promise you, you'll be getting married in NYC, saying "I do" in Na'vi sooner than you think."
Sam smiles slightly, even if he's not sure if he feels better yet.
"...let's watch Avatar via Skype" Molly suggests.
And now he does.
