Treat
There was flour smeared across Rin’s nose, and on his shirt, and in his hair. Really, it was everywhere, all over the kitchen with no sign of stopping its spread across their house. Seijuurou laughed gently to himself and wrapped his arms around Rin’s waist, heedless of the flour now slathered across himself.
“Babe,” he whispered into Rin’s ear. “It’s not like you to get this worked up. What’s going on?”
“I just want everything to be perfect for tonight,” Rin said. “I haven’t seen him in nine months, and-”
“And you want him to still love you, so you’re buying his affection with treats,” Seijuurou finished for him. Rin huffed, smacking at him with the dish towel in his hand.
“I am not,” he said. “I’m just trying to welcome him back to Japan.”
“And welcome him home,” Seijuurou added, nuzzling at the soft skin at the back of Rin’s neck.
“Hopefully,” Rin said. There came the sound of a key turning in the lock and Rin went stiff in Seijuurou’s arms. He tore himself out of Seijuurou’s hold and darted into the bathroom, leaving Aiichirou to blink in surprise at the red-haired blur hurtling past him.
“What was that all about?” he asked, dropping his bag and walking over to Seijuurou.
“He’s making himself pretty for you, I think,” Seijuurou said, then leaned down to kiss Aiichirou on the cheek. “Welcome home, my love,” he murmured into silvery hair.
“I’m home,” Aiichirou replied, and he sounded so nervous and relieved to say those words. He looked around Seijuurou and made a face. “I thought Rin-senpai was supposed to be clean,” he said. “What happened to your poor kitchen?”
“Oh, you know,” Seijuurou laughed. “Bribery gone wrong.”
“What?” Before Seijuurou could answer him, the bathroom door opened and Rin emerged, mostly free of flour with a nervous smile on his face.
“Hi,” he said softly.
“Hi, Senpai,” said Aiichirou. Rin opened his arms and Aiichirou hurtled across the room to launch himself at him. Rin caught him with a laugh, scooping him into the air and twirling him around.
“Welcome home,” Rin said.
“I’m home,” Aiichirou said. “I’m home.”
“Would you like to be home?” Rin asked.
“What?”
“I’m sorry, I meant to do this better, I was going to give you sweets and butter you up and-”
“Rin-senpai, are you asking me to move in with you?” Aiichirou asked.
“I am,” Rin said. “Will you?”
“I will,” Aiichirou whispered.
“Well, this calls for celebration,” Seijuurou said, walking over to gather them both into his arms. “What say you and I eat our way through the bakery Matsuoka made us? You know he’s not going to.”
“Sounds good, Captain,” Aiichirou said with a smile like sunshine. Seijuurou laughed, giddy as could be. Rin and Aiichirou joined in with him. It was a good day.
