This was a challenge given to me by seireeii months ago which I didn't get around to until now because I am scum.
Challenge: Give yourself ten minutes. Only ten minutes. To write to whatever prompt you choose for whatever pairing, show, idea you want. Catch: no backspace. None. Zilch. What you write is what you write. You may only erase things AFTER you write, and only to allow people to understand what you're writing (grammatical errors and spelling problems).
I ended up writing a Fire Emblem: Awakening headcanon. Couldn't write it all in 10 minutes though (ellipses inserted where 10 minutes ended) and all in all, it took me about 20 to finish.
Lucina had peeked out from behind the tents as soon as she heard voices—specifically those of her mother and father. It was odd, knowing that they rarely argued, but it was just as evident that they were both ridiculously stubborn. Still, she stayed back, not wanting to interrupt a discussion that she wasn't involved in.
Eventually, the voices quieted and Lucina heard the squabble end with her mother storming off. As she rounded the corner, she found Chrom standing in the middle of the field staring at the ground, looking distressed.
"Father?" she called out to him as she approached cautiously.
He glanced up at her and managed a weak smile. "Hello, Lucina. What are you doing out so late?"
"It's not even sunset yet," she pointed out, and the King scratched his head sheepishly. "I heard you and mother arguing. May I ask what it was about?"
She was a leader, and it was a bit of a bad habit to pry. She simply wanted to know what was going on in the camp. And this was her family! There was nothing in the world she loved more than her parents.
At the very least, Chrom didn't make a point of hiding anything. Instead, his face simply fell, though the smile was still there. "Your mother is pregnant."
The exalted daughter froze for a moment before blinking. "...Morgan?"
"Morgan," he replied, nodding. "And she wants to stay on the front lines."
Lucina wasn't exactly sure what to say at that. Certainly, it was probably not the best idea for a woman carrying a child to be placed in the line of fire, but the Shepherds needed her mother. The world needed her mother. They weren't the only ones who depended on her.
"I can see why mother's upset. We don't have a tactician who's nearly as smart as she is," Lucina admitted quietly.
"There's no simple solution to this," Chrom sighed as he tilted his head back in exasperation. "I can't risk Ylisse, but I cannot risk your mother's life either. Especially not when my child's life is on the line as well."
...
She was silent, not knowing what to say. She had been the leader in a bleak future, but she could not, for the life of her, make a decision in her father's place if she were the commanding officer now. She hated that they were in this predicament, and that she was as helpless now as she was back then.
"I'm sorry," Lucina blurted out as her hands curled into fists.
Chrom looked confused. "For what?"
"The reasons I came back...they were more selfish than anything," she explained. "The main reason I came back was for you, not to fulfill Naga's will. And here you and mother are trying to do what's best for the world."
Before she could say anything else, Chrom's arms were around her and she was swallowing her pitiful words.
"Don't be stupid, Lucina. You were far too young to be forced into such a role, just as Emmeryn was. Never blame yourself for wanting happiness," her father told her sternly. "We are a family and we are going to get through this together."
She didn't open her mouth to reply because all she wanted was to believe in his words. Her father was strong, her mother was brilliant, and her brother was going to be born in this timeline. She had to remember this, and she had to believe. This was her second chance and she'd be damned if she let it slip away.
Part iii has been sent, my friend. Enjoy it? Not really sure what to say here, but I sent it faster than the last one, that's for sure. Part iv's coming up. Soon.
And I thought I was the only one with Kuroko being my favorite character from KnB. Everybody seems to love Kise or Aomine, or even Kagami. But Kuroko's the best. Sorry for the randomness. Nice blog, by the way.
omfg yeah i agree! i really love all the characters, but kuroko and kagami are definitely my favorites (◡‿◡✿) and thank you!!
