Sora desu! I am the head (read: only) translator in Team Amaburi of NanoDesu Translations, translating the light novels of Amagi Brilliant Park. I’ll be assisting Misha-chan primarily in answering questions related to the light novels, though feel free to ask me anything, really!
As always, appreciate the patience of those who are also following the light novel translation; I'll be doing my best at releasing more parts as well as posting on this site! :D
Anyway, here’s a doki-doki illustration from the light novel, enjoy! XD
I consider this ship’s feelings: Mutual | Mixed | Strange | Awkward | Platonic | Sibling-like | One-sided | They don’t really like each other |
I’d consider the relationship: Healthy | Awkward | Abusive | Doesn’t work properly | They’d never get together |
Children: No | Yes | They’d think about it
General Opinion: I love them! They’re absolutely adorable, they call each other out when they’re fucking up or being jerks, they support one another, and they help each other to open up. They make the other aware of their weaknesses and offer a support to allow them to confront those weaknesses. They make each other better, and they don’t have any kind of dependency issues. They do rely on one another, but they can do without. They rely because they can trust, not because they feel like they have no other choice.
Seisuzu Fan fic! For Day 5, 7/30 In the theme of "Heat"
Summary: Isuzu fears the worst when the administration building catches fire.
Isuzu sighed as she leant back against the door of her apartment. It had been a long day, made longer by the power failing in the administration building. She undid the top two buttons of her uniform and pulled at the collar to vent some air around her body. Without power for the air conditioning, and it being a very humid day she felt uncomfortably sticky from sweat and couldn’t wait for a bath. She pushed away from the door and slipped off her boots with a satisfied sigh of relief.
As she stepped into the bathroom she let her hair down, shaking it lose and stretching out her arms with a groan. She was reaching down to run the water for her bath when the sound of an alarm snapped her attention away from her wind down routine. It was close, very close. The nearest building was the administration offices, that had to be where it came from, and it was the fire alarm!
Isuzu was soon back out the door of the staff building, only pausing briefly to put her boots back on. The echoing ring of the alarm immediately met her ears and it confirmed her assumption. For the first time that day she felt cold, as panic seized her. Seiya was still in there! He was committed to working late and less than 30 minutes previously had insisted, after much protest, that she took herself home.
What felt like a long time passed in Isuzu’s frozen mind as she stared at the building, now a visible orange glow emanating from the windows on the 2nd floor. A vague mumbling could be heard from behind, as a few of the other staff members emerged from the building, including perhaps some one calling her name? Isuzu didn’t know because she was now running at full speed to the offices, her mind only occupied solely by fear. Fear that Seiya could be inside.
In no time she reached the entrance and wrenched it open. Immediately she shouted “Seiya!” her eyes darting around the foyer and to the stair well, hoping to see him. He wasn’t anywhere outside when she rushed in, she knew that much. And there was no way he’d of left in the short time since she had. Once again she felt cold panic, her heart seizing up in her chest, but she didn’t stop moving. Without thought she had already arrived at the stairs.
Once again she called out, and still no response was heard over the piercing tone of the fire alarm. She only stopped running on reaching the 2nd floor, when met by what at the time looked like an inferno. Fire was intensely burning across the front wall of the office, and through the wooden ceiling. The narrowness of the corridor magnified the oppression of the heat and smoke to the point where Isuzu felt pressured to step back. Most of the tiles on the ceiling had collapsed to the floor, leaving burning debris on the ground. But weirdly it calmed her panic slightly. In this situation she couldn’t lose it and do something stupid!
“Kanie-Kun!” She called down the corridor to the wall of flame surrounding the door to their office. “Are you there?! Kanie-Kun!” Still no reply. Her mind raced, panic well and truly setting in again as she envisioned him collapsed beyond the door. She stepped closer to the flames. Maybe he did leave! She told herself. He can’t of feinted from smoke inhalation already! Surely not! But what if this started with him having an accident? What if he hit his head. What if… Over and over scenarios flashed through her mind. She couldn’t risk backing away now! If he was there and unconscious… NO! That thought was too much, she had to act!
Isuzu forced herself forward, against reason, and against all her senses telling her this was an unsafe place to be. She skirted the edge of the corridor, as far away from the flames as she could until she reached the door. It was open but she could hardly see a thing inside. The brightness of the fire and black of smoke had her squinting. The feeling of heat was almost overwhelming now as she shielded her eyes to try and see inside. Again she shouted out, hoping to at least hear something. Nothing was heard.
Her eyes darted around the frame of the door. It was totally ablaze, but mercilessly the floor was free on both inside and out, and the back of the room was still safe. Sounds of shouting from outside reached her ears but none of that engaged in the brain. Her mind was made up. She was convinced he was there, and she MUST get inside. Despite the intense heat pressing back, Isuzu flung herself forward and leapt with arms tucked tightly into the body, through the fire and into the room.
Isuzu landed safely inside the relatively small office. “Seiya!” she shouted once more as she darted around his desk, but no one was there. No one was there. Her heart stopped. But a response finally came.
She spun around in confusion, looking back to the door after a shout of “Sento!” snapped her back into reality. It was Seiya’s voice!
“Seiya! Where are you?!” She thought she had heard his shout coming from the corridor.
“Out here! Don’t worry! Just stay back!”
“What?! No! I can make it! Get out!”
“Do as I say! Stand back!”
The next few moments for Isuzu were a blur. Her heart pounded in her chest as a whirlwind like noise flooded her ears. White smoke bellowed through the door and seconds later Seiya stepped through waving his arms and coughing. Isuzu felt her eyes well up when the smoke cleared and she could clearly see his face. The relief she could feel was like a tidal wave as it washed over her. Nothing could stop her emotions pouring forth as she dove for him and burried her face into his chest, sobbing uncontrollably.
Seiya stood eyes wide, looking down Isuzu, shocked from her extreme display of emotion. He felt her fists grip tightly on his shirt, pulling on him desperately and his heart melted. He smiled softly and wrapped his arms around the poor girl and let her cry. He knew Isuzu well enough to know that now wasn’t the time to say something snarky, as he would do normally. Eventually she released him and took a small step back, wiping her eyes with the back of her arm.
“I-I was s-so worried. You… you idiot… where were you?” she asked looking down at his feet, not feeling quite able to look up into his eyes yet.
“You mean, after the fire started? I used the emergency exit, then went and got help.” Of course, she thought to herself. That was at the end of the corridor, and exited behind the building. Why hadn’t she thought of that, why assume against logic that he was still inside. Why go in alone. So many questions, and now she was feeling rather embarrassed. She tried to think of why she’d panic so much, her, a soldier, and she lost it. Of course she knew why she felt so strongly, so strongly that she made many mistakes. And even trying to avoid thinking about it made her face flush red.
She looked up, and instantly turned away from embarrassment. She briefly caught glimpse of Seiya’s concerned expression, but it wasn’t that that made her turn. Muse and Salama were standing in the doorway, Muse looking worried, Salama madly typing into her phone. And behind them a group of Moletes holding fire extinguishers.
“How bad is the damage?” she asked, trying to calm herself down while looking away.
“Eh.. I’m not sure,” Seiya replied. “I think not too bad….” An awkward pause came, Seiya nervously scratched the back of his arm. “Look.. Are you okay?” He finally asked
“Y-yes… I’m fine,” Isuzu breathed a short sigh as she knew her reply was an obvious lie. After a much a deeper breath she turned and walked past Seiya and the two elementio girls without looking at any of them. Muse opened her mouth to say something but stuttered with nerves.
Isuzu looked around at the burnt out walls and ceiling, but not really taking any information in. It looked bad, but at the same time perhaps not as bad as she felt it was when her emotions were running wild. She tried to think of something to say, anything, but her mind was blank. The silence was eventually broken by Seiya speaking to the leader of the Moletes, asking them to inspect the damage, and work out the cause of the fire. Isuzu took that chance to leave as quickly as possible, before any one spoke to her.
Less than 5 minutes later and Isuzu was back at her room, sitting in her bed with her knees drawn up to her chest. She hadn’t spoken to a single person on her way, having fled from the offices as quickly as she could without outright running. She was simply too embarrassed to function. Her mind was constantly looping over the fire, her rash panic, and the questions that raised about her feelings. A knock came at the door. She thought about ignoring it, but knew it’d just add to her shame if she just rudely ignored some one.
With her head down and shoulders slumped she opened the door and found Seiya there, alone and looking nervous. “K-Kanie-Kun… sorry… but can you fill me in on the details tomorrow? I’m too tired now,” she said, turning the handle of the door and preparing to shut it again.
“I’m not here about details. I don’t even know what happened myself yet,” Seiya looked uncomfortable as he spoke, and paused for a moment before asking, “Can I come in?”
“O-okay.” She stepped back and let him in, asking “But why?” before closing the door.
Seiya didn’t answer, but instead asked “Are you okay Sento?”
“Yes…No… I don’t know! Kanie-kun, I thought you were going to die! I panicked…and… nevermind!” Blushing bright red she looked away and pulled at the collar of her jacket. Realizing that a couple of buttons were still undone she blushed further. Seiya smiled, finding her flustered nature quite charming.
“You were really worried about me weren’t you? I’m flattered…. I was worried about you too you know”
“Kanie-kun?” Isuzu looked back at him. He was blushing too now.
“Yeah… so don’t go stupidly running into fires again! I wouldn’t know what to do without you!” Seiya spoke with more bravado than he intended and quickly added with a nervous laugh. “I mean… the park needs you”
Isuzu laughed with him, and said with a smile “Then don’t get yourself caught in fires. Because I, for the park, need you too.”
“Deal,” Seiya smiled back. “I will see you tomorrow then Sento, 9 am at the conference room. I will let everyone else know to also be there.” He opened the door and stepped out into the corridor.
“You know…. I’ve never seen you with your hair down like that before,” he said, holding eye contact with her for a brief couple of seconds, “I like it.”
Her breath caught in her throat and she stuttered her reply. “Th-thanks…. G-good night Kanie-kun!”
“Good night Sento.” She quickly closed the door before he could say any more to fluster her.
Isuzu sighed as she leant back against the door. It had been a long day, and now she really needed that bath.
