Luck comes to a man in many different forms; success, love, wealth. Today, luck came to Ji-Min as a crowbar on the side of the road.

Of course, he hadn't intended to be dragged into this, surrounded by a group of men in search of someone long since dead; Siyun, the lieutenant of the Ghosts. It was a tiresome and unnecessary war his former gang had been dragged into, ceaseless persistence from the Serpents that always ended in their defeat. But a year was plenty of time for improvement. It might've been fun to indulge, to draw it out, unleash some of this vicious wrath never quite satisfied. Sung's presence wasn't enough for Ji to limit his brutality; but when given the choice between prolonged, violent torture and keeping benevolent hands clean, well. He'd have to find indulgence somewhere else.

The bar lazily scraped against the concrete as Ji lifted it, leveling its weight in his hand as one of the gang members spoke.

"You're outnumbered, asshole! You think you can take all of us at once?"

Ji didn't answer. He didn't have to, returning to Sung's side - subtly putting himself between the deity and the three men in a half-circle around them.

"Sung," he said calmly, barely letting the other finish his sentence, almost bored as their eyes met - though there was a gleeful violence simmering underneath Ji’s own, coming out in a small, polite smile. "Go stand over there, please?"

“If  you  don’t  keep  your  voice  down,  then  everyone’s  going  to  hear  you  and  I’m  screwed.  Quiet  down,  eh?”

𝐍𝐎𝐓  𝐌𝐀𝐍𝐘  𝐊𝐍𝐄𝐖  𝐇𝐈𝐒  𝐒𝐄𝐂𝐑𝐄𝐓  ;  and  the  very  few  that  did  were  always  forced  to  keep  it  under  lock  and  key.  There  were  many  reasons  for  this  ;  one,  the  law.  Two,  he  didn’t  need  his  dear  old  dad  worrying  back  home  about  him,  and  three  —  he  didn't  want  his  ear  yapped  off  by  his  law  student  cousin.  The  thought  of  the  latter  made  his  eyes  roll,  body  underneath  his  own  vehicle  as  he  tinkered  around  with  it  —  preparing  it  for  his  next  adrenaline  rush.

“It’s  a  different  rush,  I  guess.”  He  admits,  pushing  himself  from  underneath  the  vehicle  so  he  could  sit  up  and  take  a  quick  break  —  wiping  oil  from  his  face  and  smearing  it  across  his  cheek  instead.  Nose  wrinkles  softly  as  gazes  flickers  over  towards  Sung-hyun,  brow  raising  before  he  shrugs.

“I  wouldn’t  say  overboard.  People  have  done  worse,  right?  It’s  not  like  I’m  out  killing  people  or  anything.”  He  says,  as  if  it  wasn’t  a  possibility,  as  accidents  do  happen,  don’t  they?   “Besides,  skydiving’s  dangerous  too,  right?  What  if  your  parachute  malfunctions?  SPLAT!  You’re  a  pancake  on  the  ground.  I’ll  stick  to  speed  and  my  cars,  thanks.”

days out of the house were few and far between, but it's strange the people he's found comfort in since everything happened ; it's strange that one of the few places he feels some semblance of normalcy is here with sung-hyun. because he never treats dae-ho like he's broken, he doesn't judge, he doesn't expect anything ━━━ he just meets dae-ho where he's at and that ... well, that was more than what other people have given him these past few months.

the younger lounges on the sofa, phone rested on his stomach and gaze pointed up towards the ceiling. it's all too often that he finds himself drifting away now ; his thoughts wander, though that's nothing new. but instead of the chaos that usually clouded his mind and made it impossible to focus, he finds that certain memories come to mind. never welcome, and always against his will.

what he wouldn't do, to forget.

" sungie ? " voice quiet, as he continues to look up at the ceiling. shaking almost, as he tries to keep himself steady, tries to keep himself in the moment instead of getting lost in the past.

✦ lavender does not necessarily seek romantic companionship. when and if romance happens, it is almost always by some combination of time and proximity's hard work rather than by their own intent. that being said, it doesn't cherish being single. despite what it'll say, lavender is in fact deeply lonely. it is just too afraid to say so in a crowded bar, and so it sits on its lonesome and scowls at anyone who offers it a drink. if it gets mad enough, it won't recognize how terribly lonely it actually is.

AT  THAT,  A  LOW  HUM  ESCAPED  HIS  THROAT  ;  an  almost  contemplative  sound  as  he  leaned  back  into  the  couch.  Min  wasn’t  exactly  surprised  by  those  words.  In  a  way,  he  had  already  suspected  it  before.  He  had  noticed  that  the  other  possessed  this  strange  ability  of  making  people  feel  truly  seen  as  if,  in  some  profound,  almost  unfathomable  way,  they  mattered.  As  if  he  could  look  at  someone  for  just  a  moment  and  somehow  grasp  those  facets  they  kept  hidden.

Perhaps  for  others,  that  was  perfectly  normal.

Perhaps  people  like  Sung  were  far  more  common  than  Min  allowed  himself  to  admit.

But  to  Min,  it  felt  almost..   weird.  (  if  you  could  call  it  that  )

One  corner  of  his  mouth  twitched  upward,  though  there  was  a  hint  of  amusement  behind  it.  ❛  That’s  one  way  of  putting  it,  ❜  he  said,  his  fingers  tapped  briefly  against  the  armrest  before  coming  to  rest  once  more.  ❛  Sometimes  it  seems  as  though  you  carry  the  burden  of  everyone  around  you  on  your  shoulders  because  you  believe  it’s  your  responsibility...  as  if  everything  would  crumble  if  you  stopped  holding  it  all  together  for  even  a  single  second,  ❜  Min  attempted  to  explain  his  thoughts.  The  silence  that  settled  between  the  two  of  them  in  the  aftermath  wasn’t  unpleasant,  though  it  wasn’t  exactly  comfortable  either. 

Due  to  his  blunt  words,  a  quiet  tension  hung  in  the  air,  yet  Min  couldn’t  quite  tell  if  it  was  a  good  kind  of  tension  or  not. ❛  Feel  free  to  tell  me  if  I’m  wrong  though  ❜  ,  he  added  calmly,  his  voice  sounding  unusually  gentle  now,  as  he  raised  his  glass  of  water  to  his  lips  to  take  a  sip.  Then  he  tilted  his  head  slightly  to  the  side,  studying  Sung  for  another  moment.  ❛  Isn’t  that  terribly  exhausting?  Pleasing  everyone?  ❜
