ohmigosh I did it. I finished my outline.
LETSGOOOO!!
Goddess I’ve literally never put this much work into an outline before. I’ve always been a person who laugh at the thought of planning my stories like this; and I love the chaos of planting a seed and seeing what grows. But my stories in the past have taken on the problem of not knowing when enough is enough. I have so many ideas for so many scenes so I end up making the story twist and bend so I can include them all.
So it’s time to try something new. I’m still going in “the outline is more like guidelines than actual rules” vibe and it was heartbreaking to realize there were scenes that would never fit into the story I wanted to tell, but I still fucking did it! Did it!! I know the story I want my blorbos to go on and it’s gonna happen. A 3 Act Structure. An inner and outer goal. A lie a character believes and the way that flaw paints the narrative. The characters have agency and will make choices that will determine the plot of the story. All that good stuff that’s easy to tell when it’s done wrong, and infinitely harder to do it correctly yourself.
So to my zero followers -- keep an eye out in the next few weeks. I’ll be posting chapter 1 of my fic on ao3 here.
The Story of Donnie “Insert Surname” and his unsecured attachment style all while being very 14 years old.
AKA
Selective Seclusion
So what is my WIP I hear my zero followers ask? Well it’s yet another Separated AU (though I will die on the Um-Actually-It’s-Cannon-Divergent Hill) where all the brothers are raised happily together, but Donnie gets separated from them when he is 5. Just old enough to remember them, but young enough that he struggles to remember anything about them. Especially after what happens to him post-separation.
“What happens to him post-separation?” I once again hear the void ask. Well it’s quite simple: Donnie won’t talk about it. He’ll drop vague hints here and there; the parents that took him in died; humans aren’t really to be trusted; and beware Draxum. It’s clear to all the brothers that Donnie has experienced some trauma, something he is quick to detachedly admit, even if, again, he won’t talk about what exactly happened to him.
But one thing is abundantly clear: Donnie doesn’t really want anything to do with his so-called ‘brothers’. They haven’t been in each others’ lives since they were barely older than toddlers. On top of that, there isn’t really any evidence supporting a blood link either. And if even there was, blood doesn’t mean shit. So, logically, they therefore lack the familial connection one must have in order to consider themselves brethren.
However, they share a common enemy in Draxum and Donnie could use allies in that fight. Plus the three of them have been nothing if not stubborn to have him in their lives. Easier to play along just long enough to get what he needs then go about his life as he pleases.
Meanwhile, Leo doesn’t care how much Donnie kicks and screams. He’s going assimilate him into their found family no matter what!
