Selene Stellula Albarn
Maka and Black Star’s second born daughter. Her namesake comes from the titan of the moon in Greek mythology and her nickname is akambo. She has very strong familial bonds and is extremely protective of her family, sharing a unique bond with Marco. Like the other siblings, she is ¾ Japanese and identifies as Japanese-American. She’s bilingual in Japanese, and perfects the language with Tsubaki’s tutelage. Selene’s goal is to preserve and explore her paternal lineage, setting her eyes on old trails and trying to understand her family’s history. She has made several attempts to reclaim the Star Clan, although Black Star was opposed to it in the beginning. However, with her mother’s support and her father’s eventual acceptance, she gets the iconic star tattoo on her shoulder. In certain aus and worlds, she is Marco’s younger twin.
Personality
In her earliest years, she was loud and energetic like Black Star, and everyone had thought that she would stay the same. However, as she became older, she eventually became serene– quiet, but devastating. Like Marco, she can’t be bothered with trivial things, but unlike Marco, she will not hesitate to fight anything she isn’t pleased with. Selene works earnestly and lingers in ancient texts which she reads with the same vigor as teen romance novels. While asexual, she is not opposed to a life partner, so long as they understand that her family comes first. Her favorite past time is teasing Shima with two words or less.
Appearance
Her long hair is the same shade of blue as Black Star’s, falling over her blue-teal eyes which she inherited from Spirit. Other traits that found their way to Selene include Black Star’s sharp jawline and freckles, and Maka’s long legs; the latter adds to her tall height like the rest of her siblings. She is undeniably beautiful, but once she parts her mouth for rare words, she is actually extremely clumsy and silly to the surprise of many people. Her preferred wardrobe includes long simple skirts paired with t-shirts, however, Marco is the one who goes shopping with her and chooses the clothes. She is unworried about style, but likes what her brother picks out; both of them lean more towards Maka’s style anyway. After she gets the star tattoo on her shoulder, she begins to dress more in tank tops or cold-shoulder blouses.
Skills
Selene is the ninja assassin meister that Black Star could never hope to achieve. She aims towards mastering every weapon that the written language has recorded, and then some. She has a strong and natural affinity for Soul Perception; it manifested at a very early age during the time of Shima’s pregnancy. One of the reasons why she became quieter as she grew up was because her Soul Perception started to kick in and she was content to just listen and look at what was going on rather than interact. Her parents’ initial thought was that she was being bullied, but it wasn’t the case. Once she becomes older, Marco helps train Selene to use Soul Force, though she never had troubles with keeping her sleeves on.
Partner
Tsutsuji is her weapon partner, a cheerful and mischievous beauty with a penchant for teasing. She is Akane and Tsubaki’s child with all of the deadly prowess that comes with it. She transforms into a multitude of weapons which includes the bolas (surujin), Chinese halberd (ji), kyoketsu (shoge), and a small dagger form. Together, they reclaim the Star Clan name and cut down anyone who stands in their way.
