A couple of Self Defense tips...
1. The first rule of self defense is quite simple... RUN AWAY! This is not shameful, if you are not there you can't be hurt.
2. Do not EVER yell for help! People instinctively DO NOT want to get involved in a dangerous situation and will likely leave the area quickly. Instead yell, and keep yelling, FIRE, FIRE, FIRE! Almost everyone wants to see a fire, just watch ANY news clip of a fire and see how many people are around. Plus someone will surely call 911 and report the "fire" even if they can't see it! People come to see, fire trucks and police arrive. Guaranteed! This will cause most perpetrators to run away fast.
3. If you must fight, fight hard and fast. Use the bottom of your fist (this part ---->✊, called a hammer fist strike) to hit the bridge of the nose (this part --->👃) as hard as you can. Hit it hard and fast and repeat if needed. This will cause the perpetrators eyes to close and water profusely, cause much pain and difficulty seeing, and may cause blood to run. Then RUN AWAY FAST and YELL FIRE!
These are simple actions easy to remember, easy to practice, but DO NOT try to hit someone you love like this, they won't be happy!
My daughter, at the age of 4 or so, came running at me excitedly to welcome me home. As she got close, I knelt down to catch her just as she jumped up. Her chin or maybe her cheek (not sure) hit the bridge of my nose full force. I was dropped on my butt, in a most undignified manner, and could not open my eyes nor focus for about 5 minutes. The pain lasted for several more minutes plus it was tender for days. She "Rang My Bell" as the saying goes! She was fine, I was not angry, just in pain.
This event proved to me that the strike to the bridge of the nose is quite possibly the most effective defense technique on the planet!
