I just saw a Bad and Wrong post about self publishing and romance, but also I am supposed to be trying to stay calm. So.... And I am on my phone, and typing/phone arguing never goes well for me. I can't type fast enough and get frustrated.
But uh... the preponderance of straight cis ladies getting book deals in trad publishing for gay m/m romances is not made up? Like... we all know now the trad publishing gives very little fucks for any authors but especially nonwhite nonstraight authors. We know this. If you follow publishing drama at all like... Barnes and Noble execs basically said that straight out last week. The detauls from the proposed Simon and Schuster merger alsp make it clear which authors get trad pub money and support and which don't.... So this idea that self pub or indie authors just need to "market themselves better" to somehow do as well as someone with the support of that red white royal whatever author??? Is some bullshit, and very obvious too.
Also you don't have to like their opinions or even stop reading what you are reading because of those opinions. But all these lady (or currently identifying as lady) readers getting mad because a transmasc author said he disliked the way some of them react to how he does relationships and/or sex based on his experiences, and several other male romance authors agreeing is clearly indicating that an issue does exist.
These ladies (and eggs) need to go sit with that instead of doing a 'oh no the men are attacking me' nonsense. They aren't attacking you. You aren't being bullied. They expressed their thoughts on their own social media accounts, which they are allowed to do. Ffs. You are allowed to ignore them if you want. Funny how that works.
Anyway, looks like I got some new people to block. Well one. The other one was anon, and you know how strongly someone stands by their bullshit opinion when they express it on anon.
