There are things - movies, TV shows - that I watched only because of my favorite actor or actress. The Secret Circle because of Shelley Hennig, or Womb because of Matt Smith come to my mind...
And then there are things that I would never, EVER watch, not even for my favorite actor or actress. Like The Last King of Scotland/Atonement/Filth with James McAvoy or 12 Years a Slave/Eden Lake with Michael Fassbender...
I can handle cringe-worthy, shallow, dumb or even overly artsy stuff just fine. But tragedies depicting the ugliness of human beings? No. Those makes me way too anxious, so much so that I get all jittery and my hands start to shake. I need to believe that people are essentially good, I need that, because... what would be the point of anything otherwise?
