Had I known sooner, I wouldn't have to wait eons for my first royalties payment 😭 When I first signed up for KDP I thought I had to wait until I met the $100 threshold in order to receive my royalties check (which would also take 2 months to send if I did reach the threshold) because my "region" wasn't supported for direct deposit. And dont get me started on how complicated the process would have been awkwardly lining up at the bank to deposit various checks on varying currencies while you are trying to be discrete about your writing life [like no ma'am i'm not a drug dealer or a scam artist 🤣] Then I thought, "but thats insane, I live in a US Territory, shouldn't my bank be covered?" My country was still the US regardless of my region/location! Compelled to find a cheaper and faster alternative to royalties check, I tried to make sure I am covered for direct deposit since I am living on US soil. So I gave it a shot. I reviewed my bank and payment details and surprisingly enough, it worked! Today I received part of my royalties from two markets who bought my book in the last year (yes! I didnt have to wait a damn year if I had known sooner!) Sure its not a lot to financially support myself, maybe enough to buy a snack or laundry, but it feels good to be paid every single penny doing what you love. Long story short: If you are a US Territory outside of the US (i.e. Hawaii, Guam, CNMI, etc.) You ARE part of the US.
