reminder for myself that even 20 lbs is a big big change :)
i stepped on the scale for the first time since the beginning of this semester and was shocked by what i saw. i gained 12 pounds. it may not be a lot to others but my weight has never fluxuated so wide before and it scared me. the pouch of my stomach was suddenly bigger, my thighs wider, cheeks rounder. it explained why my jeans were getting tighter and why none of my shirts looked quite right unless they were engulfing me. needless to say i was about ready to just stop eating.
however, i remembered that this all happened for a reason whether it be indulgence, stress, or a bit of both, but ultimately i have the control to correct things the right way. i’m on my spring break right now and i’d like to enjoy it, so i’m continuing to give myself free reign until i get back to school. then its time to fix my diet to how it was over winter: baked chicken, salads, lots of fruit, no take-out/eating out. going back to the gym but not trying to keep up with my roommate who has been going since the eighth grade. i’ll do long stretches of cardio and some floor exercises, maybe some weightlifting, but doing it at my own pace.
i’m graduating in 10 months. if there is anything i’ve learned from college it’s that the things you so must be for yourself, not to live up to anyone else’s expectation. you can’t complain to others over something you have the ability to fix. practicing self love is the most important thing for young adults and teenagers right now because this world isn’t getting any kinder to us. do what makes you happy because it makes you happy.
