A little piece of hell|| Ellie & Christian
Just like someone would check they had packed everything before leaving on vacation, Ellie is checking her weapons. A mixture of branded and homemade knives hang through the loops of a belt with easy access to her when needed. Yes, when needed not if because there is no doubt in her mind--or anyone else's for that matter, they will be used. There’s also a couple of guns too and a length of wire with small oblong wooden grips at either end.
Is she scared?--no. Is she on edge?--yes.
Being on edge does give her an advantage because it allows her body to produce more adrenaline and Ellie uses it to get through anything which presents itself as challenging. It means she doesn’t cower or run away, freeze or panic. If anything, she shows much more determination and ruthlessness, not caring about who she is going against, whether beasts, monsters or humans.
She can’t say she is entirely happy about being in a group who are going to take this thing on when quite a few of them she has never had to fight with. It has entered her head that putting your trust in someone who could very well leave you when it really matters, is a dangerous thing, but the choices are limited. It doesn’t mean she can’t grumble to herself though and she swears to god if anyone of them decides to look out only for themselves and drop her in the shit, she will plug them with a fucking bullet and not give a shit about it.
-------------------
As soon as they arrive, shit starts happening and so far people seem fairly organised, considering---working together so that some stay behind at certain points and others move on through to the next area. Ellie's eyes are everywhere as she tries to keep each movement made around her, in her peripheral vision so nothing can get too close it attacks. There’s one big ass fucker climbing down the wall of the monolith, chunks of ice and stone dropping to the ground. Two ‘things’ built like brick shithouses and ugly as fuck, guard the entrance. Ellie steps closer but not too close because if everyone attacks, too many numbers will increase the chances of them hurting each other by accident.
Six of the group are left behind to deal with everything and it is unnerving to know their numbers have been cut more or less in half, especially when they don’t know how bad it’s going to get once inside.
Ellie moves swiftly and enters. It’s freezing, but there’s no time to think about that as she approaches the base of some stairs.
“Fuck....”
One large bladed knife is already in her hand and another in her left one. She brings them up to chest level, waiting as the darkened mass starts to manifest in front of her eyes. She can’t help but see the twisted pained faces of the dead corpses, they looked like they died in the most horrific ways. She inhales deeply, making sure her attention isn’t taken by the sight. Side-eyeing quickly the person to her right, she nods as if to say, ‘are you ready?’
