Each year my Senior Programming Consulting Firm - Beyond Bingo, partners with Pathway Senior Living to take as many of their senior community residents as would like to go, to camp. Day Camp in July, Overnight Camp in August. This emptied van means that senior day camp is completed for another year. 52, 79 and 64 folks respectively on our 3 days out. Average age about 79. All seniors from Assisted Living and Memorycare communities enjoying boating, a cookout, archery, chickens, fishing, hiking, drum circles, games and crafts. 3 of my favorite days of the whole year filled with an overwhelming sense of love and joy, and a bit of sadness...there are campers that have been coming for multiple years and it is possible to see their decline and wonder if we will see them there again next year...which just motivates us even more to be sure their experience is wonderful. The finally feeling after daycamp? Complete exhaustion and a true need for a shower! As well as the most profound sense of gratitude. I love my life and how I spend it!
