medals are equipped to your pet to power it up. higher stars, level, dots, special attack rank, and amount of traits increase the amount of xp given. medals that are 'equipped' for xp can still be used in battle. levelling up your pet increases the damage multiplier and gives your pet skills. steal - an enemy may drop 2 items, can trigger once per quest. finish - flat 10k damage(not sure how its triggered), esuna - heals one status per quest, and 2nd chance

i only get by on tough magic quests because of the few amazing shared medals

ive been playing since launch and at no point has my speed deck come close to magic and power. power and magic flip flop which is best

In English I don’t know which is the best and it wouldn’t be fair to compare them as I played for about a month before going on hiatus (I’m off it now thankfully) but in Japanese they’re all about equal. 

Speed Medals I usually use/are good speed medals 

Shiki ( Deals 8 hits. Removes status effects of all targets. Raises strength by 3 tiers for 3 attacks. There’s also a Joshua and Neku form of this medal which are blue and red respectively, I actually put a skill on Joshua and Neku that makes them cost 1 sp instead of 5)

Fully Guilted Musketeer Mickey 

Master Form Sora (though I find myself using this less and less, it is good for those egg enemies, it’s a more powerful Stitch if you know what that does)

Belle and Namine (I find I use them less now that I have Shiki)

Fully guilted Illustrated Yuffie (kind of weak considering it was one of the first guilted medals to come out but not bad) 

Illustrated Xemnas (this medal hits like a truck even without guilt and has a voice clip in Japanese) 

Key art 3 aka the Roxas and Axel (lowers defense by one and hits fairly hard) 

Illustrated Ventus (have this in English, haven’t used it but I assume it’s a good medal from it’s description) 

Illustrated Sora B (borrowed this one quite a bit in Japanese until a few recent medals trumped it in power, I wouldn’t mind owning one cause I like the picture) 

Kairi 0.2 (the medal that will break the meta and that I wish I had) 

Key Art Bond (Triggers the ability of the medal set before it., sadly this medal was only released for one day so I didn’t get it, there are two others like it that are blue and red) 

Kh CoM King Mickey (not bad, basically a slightly more powerful illustrated Yuffie, Cid and Aerith) 

KH II Riku (I use this one in English) 

101 Dalmatians (Now I’ve never used this but basically what happens is you find a 101 puppy medals as well as a Pongo and Perdita medal, fuse them all together in a certain way and you get an free medal that restores 4 sp gauges, the puppy medals are scattered throughout the game, it’s not the best sp restoration medal but it deserves mention for being available to anyone willing to collect puppies) 

Illustrated Roxas  (never used but from description seems powerful) 

This list is by no mean exhaustive but my point is there are powerful speed medals out there that are just as powerful as their Magic and Power counterparts. 

I will say I’m not the best player, I’m average so I might not be the best person to ask if you wanna be super duper competitive. I get attached to medals and only stop using them when they really aren’t viable in any way shape or form given the medals I have.
