Senoxes & The Obsidian
In the ruins of what was once Everveil, the homeworld of beings called qualits, there resides a tree made of glass. Or at least the impression is that it’s glass, given the tree’s blooms are souls in the shape of glass orbs.
This Soul Tree sprouted from the eroding cracked core of Everveil’s dead world as the surrounding barren, empty space clung to any and all negativity it could find from any source.
Thus as the manifestation of the negativity emerged into awareness, amassing enough to become a conscious presence, it donned the identity of The Obsidian and bound itself to the Soul Tree to continue to gain nourishment.
But eventually even the dead run out of malice. Determined to not wither away, The Obsidian tore open small Abyssal Rips into space/time and sent extensions of itself to find nourishment and bring it back. These “echoes” took the forms of ghostly, deceased qualits who floated and had no true sentience outside of their orders.
These dead qualits, known to Everveil as Senoxes, proved highly effective and found much suffering, stealing away pieces that they could.
It quickly became apparent that whenever a great tragedy occurred that senoxes would soon appear in droves, enough in some cases to blot out the sun in shadows.
Naturally occurring senoxes, as in dead serpents and qualits, are far more aware of who they are than the mindless hunters created by The Obsidian solely to find substance. But even natural ones can lose their way and become just as mindless.
