Fic writer asks: 1, 12, and 14 please!

1. What's something you've written that you know is OOC and you just don't care?

I mean, probably a lot of what I’ve written is super OOC to someone? (I wrote hockey RPF for a bit there, so that’s probably the biggest culprit in that I did a bunch of “this is who I want this person to be, so Imma write it” there.) I feel like nothing is truly OOC if it’s in character for the version of the character you’re writing, if that makes any sense; we all bring our own interpretations into things. I mean, would the powers that be at Holby recognize the woman so many of us have written as Serena Campbell? Are they even all the same? 

12.  What writing rule do you refuse to break?

You will pry the oxford comma from my cold, dead hands. (I know, not a rule, per se, and hotly debated by all and sundry.) I also have a really hard time writing more than one POV in a fic because I’m afraid it’ll leak out into POV-jumping every other word basically. (I refuse to jump POVs so often it’s unclear whose POV I’m in for any given word. Is that a writing rule? That said, my fear/unwillingness there leads to troubles elsewhere, which is really a statement about hard-and-fast writing rules and how it’s all so much bullshit when you dig deeply enough.)

14. What aspect of writing have you had the most growth in?

I’m less afraid now to write what I mean, rather than trying to out-poetic myself trying to write around what I actually mean. (Doesn’t mean I’m always successful, but sometimes a character just thinks something. I used to think that meant three paragraphs of the character making tea to finally sort of almost express that thing.)

Top 5 Jean outfits? Top 5 Jennifer outfits? Top 5 episode (or story lines) of City Homicide?

Hi this is phenomenal thank you so much for asking!

Top five Jean outfits; I decided to pick one per season. 

1.3, ninja assassin (her hips and that apron and her hair and I’m dead)

2.10, the pale pink and brown (I love this color combo)

3.8 blue travelling dress (oh my god I’m cry, you know she put that on special, just in case, she’s so beautiful, I cannot) 

4.2, striped dress (look this dress itself is nothing special, but we see Jean in it a lot this season, and she seems to really like it, and it’s comfortable, and she’s so lovely, also I love her little red shoes)

5.2, night gown of sin (does this need any explanation, honestly)

Top five Jen outfits: 

2.5, the little pink shirt (I love all her suits and I love that she wears colors, but it was hard to get a shot of the whole outfit where she wasn’t moving)

4.16, purple shirt (Jen rocks jewel tones often, and well, but oh my god Nick’s tie matches her shirt I’m dead)

4.17, flower robe (GODDDDDDDDDD HOW PRECIOUS IS SHE)

4.22, that dress (legs for daysssss)

5.7, red shirt (oh my god, I love this suit and this sequence so much)

Top Five City Homicide episodes/story lines:

1. The Nick and Jen adventure hour, Reunion + Undercover (and them being all cute and together and naked in Gut Instinct) like oh my god, I love them undercover, I love seeing all the layers of their relationship, I love them being so in sync and amazing. Honestly I watch those two episodes randomly all the time. 

2. Pirates - Gosh my sweet little Jen being all concerned about those kids and Nick being so supportive and just Nick and thanks to @andallthatmishigas I WEEP because Glances is canon bye

3. In House (2.3) is quite good, it’s a bit of a bottle episode and Jen is, you know, delightful always. 

4. Guilty as Charged (2.5) is also fucking great, because Jen gets to be her obsessive but always right self and I love seeing her at home and my heart breaks for poor Jerry. He just ran away, right guys??????

5. ALL OF SEASON 5. ALL OF IT. THIS FUCKING ARC. OH MY GOD. I COULD SCREAM ABOUT THIS FOREVER. Nick and Jen aren’t together and everything is raw and he slept with that poor girl but then oh God she’s still the one he leans on and the one who supports him and the only one who could possibly find him and HER LITTLE HOARSE VOICE? SCREAMING FOR HIM? AND SHE SAVES HIS LIFE? And she finally realizes that nothing is more important than their relationship and they’re gonna be ok? I’m cry.
