Iāve had a quick cry about this. RIP Giles x
The 72-year-old British actor also had roles in shows including Merlin and Little Britain.
I've decided that my favorite thing about them giving Deb a terminal illness in the finale is the fact that it means Jean went from playing a terminally ill lesbian who falls in love with a straight woman to playing a terminally ill straight woman who falls in love with a lesbian.

Cherry Jones as Kelly Kilpatrick HACKS 5.07
It's waterproof. It's windproof. It's lightweight and durable. And it's made from the intestines of two bears, painstakingly cleaned and sew
I really wanted to know more about this, especially how the water proof stitching works. Here's more information on this project, and hopefully more in the future!
This is amazing! I need to make a note to play around with that water proof stitch technology soon.
Sometimes my students are pretty great š„¹

15+ hours at work yesterday, another 4 hours of wrapping things up this morning, and a couple more days like it coming up next week. I'm gonna give myself the afternoon off for once in the hope of surviving š«©

Nothing like spending Friday night in the cold basement listening to tornado sirens with two freaked out cats š
All clear now, but it was the first time the tornado siren went off in 20+ years of living here š¬

rlly fascinating phenomenon to me is when a character is extremely popular, and that popularity seems understandable enough because they've got something interesting going on, and then you look at the fandom and realize 99% of their fans don't actually care about engaging with any of the things that make them interesting and instead seem to be fans of an imaginary milquetoast version that exists solely for ship and/or angst content and is so far removed from the canon character they might as well be an unrelated OC at this point
I have no specific ask, just a generalised desire for you to write things. Seeing you share things today has made me actually giddy.
Please tell me you know how good you are!
P.S You are already fully aware of my feelings on the rope fic.

as a thank you for such a lovely message and a continuation of the wip meme, here's a snippet from the will be finished someday if it kills me next chapter of the rope fic:
The pub round the corner has a back room thatās just about big enough for everyone in the class, the small room amplifying the volume of the chatter as they all place orders and find seats. Bernie snags spots for her and Olivia on a long bench against the wall, smiles gratefully as her friend hands her a whiskey.
āIs this seat taken?ā
Bernie doesnāt know how she missed Serena approaching. Mustāve been the crowd, she thinks inanely, any sort of reasonable response entirely escaping her.
Her hesitation lasts long enough that Serenaās face falls a bit, smile tight, and her weight shifts, clearly on the verge of walking away. A painfully sharp elbow in the ribs shakes something loose in Bernie.
āYes!ā she yelps, glaring at Olivia. āI mean, no, itās free. Youāre welcome to join us, uh- of course.ā As if to prove her point, Bernie slides over, crowding Olivia into the corner in order to open up more space on the bench.
Serena accepts the seat with a smile, and Bernie just focuses on breathing steadily, keeping her expression neutral as Serenaās thigh presses against her own. It doesnāt help that she can practically feel Olivia vibrating with excitement on her other side. For what has to be the millionth time Bernie regrets admitting her crush on Serena to Olivia and Anna after one too many whiskies. Theyāve been teasing her ever since, coming up with increasingly ridiculous schemes to push her and Serena together despite all of Bernieās protests.
āI hope you both enjoyed the class,ā Serena says, taking a sip from her glass of wine. The tip of her tongue swipes along the rim, wiping all the words from Bernieās mind.
āAbsolutely! We had a great time.ā Oliviaās elbow digs into Bernieās bruised ribs pointedly. āRight, Bernie?ā
āR-right. Yes. It was, um, veryā¦educational.ā Heats floods Bernieās face, Olivia coughing something that sounds suspiciously like a laugh.
āThatās good to hear,ā Serena says, eyes sparkling with humor. She opens her mouth as if to say something else, but a bout of raucous laughter from across the pub interrupts.
A group of the other students descends, asking Serena for her opinion on something or other, and Bernie canāt help her disappointment as sheās pulled away with only a regretful backward glance.
āNice one, Wolfe,ā Olivia drawls, tapping her beer bottle against Bernieās glass in a mock toast. āVery smooth.ā
āOh piss off.ā Taking a swallow of her whisky, Bernie slumps back in her seat, tries stop her gaze from returning to Serena over and over.
Two whiskies later, she makes her way through the crowd to the door, desperate for a smoke. The cool night air is refreshing after the heat of the pub, and Bernie can feel some of her tension fall away as she takes her first slow drag.
āI donāt suppose you have another one of those youād be willing to share?ā
Bernie turns sharply, finds Serenaās somehow snuck up on her again. It takes a moment for the question to process, and she fumbles in her pocket for the pack, lit fag dangling from her lips. Eventually she is able to hand a cigarette to a somewhat bemused Serena.
āCan I get a light?ā
āOh, right.ā She retrieves her lighter, cupping her hand around it to shelter it from the breeze as she flicks the wheel. Warm golden light spills across Serenaās features as she leans in, inhaling until the tip of the cigarette glows cherry red. A matching spark of warmth flares in Bernieās belly, and she swallows hard, hiding her blush with another calming drag.
āOh, I needed that.ā Serena leans in, conspiratorially, and Bernie catches another hint of her perfume beneath the smoke. āI donāt actually smoke, but sometimes after a few drinks thereās nothing like it.ā
Bernie hums in agreement. She knows she should say more, but its as if sheās suddenly forgotten every word sheās ever known. The companionable silence between them gradually turns awkward, and Bernie searches her mind desperately for something to say thatās not about the weather, until Serena comes to the rescue.
āI have to tell you, itās been a pleasure having someone my own age in the class for a change.ā She glances towards Bernie for a split second, dark eyes unreadable. āI appreciate the younger studentsā enthusiasm, but it does make one feel rather like a fossil at times.ā
āYouāre hardly a fossil, Serena,ā Bernie says without thinking, and the smile she gets in response takes her breath away.
