"What are you touching?"

Korenna jumped at least two feet in the air at the sound of Senyc’s voice. “Gods! I wasn’t- I wasn’t touching anything!” she said, whirling around. “I was just... y’know, looking! Wasn’t gonna... touch anything. Gosh.”

Thumping her chest, Korenna forced a laugh, though her heart was still pumping in her ears. “Hah, I think I almost- almost had a heart attack there. Not, not really but a little warning next time might be nice, you know? Or maybe, maybe turn the volume down? Hah, like where’s your volume con- y’know, I’m gonna stop while I’m ahead.”

Senyc only watched her, a small smile on his lips. “I am only looking out for you. That container has some rather dangerous flora behind it. Quite poisonous.”

“Well, I wasn’t gonna eat it.”

“It projects spores. Those are the poisonous parts.”

“Why, uh, why keep something like in the HQ?” said Korenna, sidling away from the transparent container. “Isn’t that, y’know, dangerous?”

“Only if I open it. Which I do not intend to.” Tail tucking to the side, Senyc took a seat behind his desk and look up at Korenna with bright eyes. “Now, how can I help you, Korenna? I’m assuming you weren’t just taking a tour, right?”

“Well, yeah. I was kinda- well, I like the dabble in medicine and stuff, right? I know some first aid, I know a bit of healing void magic, but I wanna learn a little bit more. You’re a biologist, right, Senyc? I was wondering if you had some things you could teach me?”

Already, Korenna could tell she had his interest, given how his tail began to sway side to side. “Can you be more specific?” asked Senyc, leaning forwards.

“Like, I mean... maybe you could show me some plants that are medicinal? Or maybe there’s... I dunno, something like- like some animal parts you can use? Stuff like that, stuff that’s, y’know, useful out in the field.”

Senyc’s eyes glittered at the word. “Out on the field? Like a field trip, perhaps?”

“That’s, that’s not really what I meant, but-” Korenna tried to steer the conversation away, but Senyc took hold of the wheel.

“Like a hands-on demonstration,” he said, rising to his feet. “Yes, that would be an interesting idea. Perhaps some others int he guild would enjoy accompanying us, too. It would be a very useful knowledge to have.”

“I mean, I was thinking, like a book, or...”

“Perhaps we can go to Wilderrun. There’s such a wide variety of plants and animals that dwell there, and so many of them have medicinal properties, if utilized correctly.”

“Maybe a datachron article or something...”

“Deradune would also be a good choice. There, one is inclined to be more resourceful, due to the fact that there are fewer beneficial plants or animals.”

“Heck, you could tell me someone who might know...”

She’d lost him already, though. “A field trip is a very good idea,” said Senyc, placing a hand on Korenna’s shoulder. “I’m glad for your suggestion, and I’m glad you’re showing such an interest.”

Nothing to do at this point but go with it, she decided. “Oh, yeah, sure. You know me, Senyc. Always, y’know, always happy to help,” she said, nodding.

He was already partway out the door, even as Korenna spoke to him. “I will ask around and see who else is interested. And I’ll let you know when I’ve decided what we’ll be doing.”

“Sure, just, just keep me updated.” Had he even heard her say that? Senyc was awfully excited about a field trip, for whatever reason, but Korenna wasn’t exactly a social butterfly. Sighing, she trotted over to his bookcase and began to search throught the titles. At the very least, she knew he wouldn't be back to surprise her again until he’d talked to everyone else in the guild.
