What element from atla I think teenage mercenary characters would be!! + sketches

Drew these cause Im mad at how misogynistic the writing is. Especially with yeona and 003, they couldve been a great love interest and villian💔💔 If only literally anyone else was writing

pls note I didn't put that much though into these and I'm writing it before bed !!

Ijin- Could very well see him as fire, water, and earth -- mainly earth and water, but I'm going to go with earth; it matches with his fighting style (not that the writer gave him much technique but whatever) and earth is know for endurance and persistence, so it fits well with his personality. He's for sure a bender

002- All of the numbers are so hard to pick for lmao. Earth but I can see water aswell -- His personality leans more towards earth kingdom, however when he was first introduced i could see him as a fire bender, he kinda got watered down though. He's a bender

005-  Again, could see her as water, fire, or earth; I'm personally leaning towards water and earth for no particular reason, if I had had pick I'd say water matches her character better. She's a bender and I think she'd be pretty skilled in her respective elements sub bending too (healing, metal bending, etc).

004-- Fire😭 only obvious choice, 100% a bender.

003- Fire she's very driven and passionate; she's also  basically a worse version of azula. She's definitely a bender and I feel like she'd have lighting bending down.

006- Earth? Can't really tell tbh, I could see air for him though, but that might just be his currently personality, if we're looking at his first apperance I'd say earth. I think he'd be an above average bender -- like really good -- but not to the levels of prodigy in the show. Im not a big fan of him so I don't have the best grasp of his character sorry😭

032- Hard to say but I think water (he seems like he'd also work as an airbender though), i think he'd be pretty skilled in healing. I actually think I could could him as a non bender but he's probably a bender just cause of the camp.

008- Might be biased cause of his looks but earth, maybe also water; he doesn't have much of a character other than hes pretty nice, so there's not much much take from 😭 obvious bender but I feel like he'd be kinda mediocre in comparison to the others?

016- Water or air. He obviously values the numbers and was the first to genuinely stick up for ijin in 002's group, same as 032, could see him as a non bender but probably not

018-He also has like no character rn😭 I think anything but earth would fit? I can see him using fire bending but he doesnt have the essence, I guess? Maybe air idk. bender for sure but idk if he'd be good.

Alice- Earth or water, she has a deep sense of comradery with her allies and family, she's also very enduring and headstrong I guess? I think water just fits with her character overall. Unsure but she's for sure a super talented bender, can't see her being too good at sub bending though.

Yeona- No clue tbh. Water or air; currently leaning towards air cause I think its description fits better thematically with her character ( Her letting go of her share of the company to live a normal life of freedom ). Don't personally think she'd be a bender but I could definitely see it and ithink it'd make sense.

Seokju- I genuinely could not decide what one. Anything but air sorta kinda fits, I'm going with fire or earth though, more towards earth cause of his enduring personality and also he just doesn't have the right personality for me to categorise him as a fire bender, all fire nation characters have such distinct personalities and drives. He's definitely a prodigy, could maybe see him doing some sub bending? Don't think he'd be amazing, but passable

Hyeokjin- Hard to say but earth, maybe Air? Again, I leaning towards earth. I think he'd be an okay bender.

Jaehyeong -Air. Honestly he doesn't really match with any other elements. He's very carefree and isn't really effected by any of the shit going on in the story so😭 not a lot of characters fit air, mainly cause air benders are so spiritual. Maybe a bender? If he is he's mediocre

Yeongchan - Briefly considered fire but he isn't bold enough, most fire nation characters have distinct personalities, and not in the way that they're all super confident or anything. Yeongchan just doesn't have that nor does he have a firey drive so I'm giving water? We only saw him act out when his mother was in harms way. I don't know, honestly he doesn't fit with any to me personally, he could also be air??😭 100% not a bender

Dayeon- water, pretty obvious choice she has a deep sense of community and love etc. I could she her being a non bender or a non combatant, not in the sense that she'd she'd a healer (though that would fit) but just that she'd use it in her daily life.

Jiye- fire. Pretty obvious once you look at how the element is described -- she has drive. Don't think she'd be a bender but I'm not against it.

Mad dog - I was gonna say fire but it was kinda dominating (while I was writing) so I'll go with earth. I don't really think he has the passion to fit with fire anyway, plus he's prideful. Definitely a bender don't think he'd have made it to his position if he wasn't.

Duhsik- Could be fire or earth but I think earth matches his personality, I could see him fighting better as a fire bender though -- Also could kinda see him as a waterbender ngl. Definitely a bender but self taught.

Iron- Fire, again he has the drive to get what he wants, he's pretty stereotypical actually for a fire bender. Probably a bender but i could see him as non bender

Different Scents

This idea is sort of small and random, but if I get any more inspiration for other characters, I'll add it here!

Ijin: fresh linen, the steel blade of knives, the rubbery smell of bandages, medical alcohol, sometimes the faint whiff of blood, freshly cut vegetables. He doesn’t wear cologne so he smells very fresh, but his scent is naturally intoxicating and he smells appealing without even trying. When you hug him you just want to stay in his arms and inhale his scent for as long as possible.

Dayeon: flowery shampoo, subtle sugary perfume, sweet lip balm, spices from cooking, the warm heady scent of lit candles. When you catch her scent it's like a shot to the gut, it's so sweet and inviting. People are captivated when they smell her, they want to stay by her side forever.

Grandpa Yu: cotton, apples, butterscotch candies, aftershave, glossy photographs, that scent of old cologne no one anyone wears anymore. He just smells really comforting and familiar, like someone safe.

Dushik Cha: cigarette smoke, expensive cologne, scotch, hair gel, that metallic scent that comes from both his bat and blood, homemade food, the faint whiff of car grease.

Major Kang: sandalwood, freshly baked bread, the fancy soaps Jiye bought for him, spicy cologne, the slightest hint of gingerbread. He smells very homey and when Ijin first hugged him, he was grasping the back of his shirt so hard it became wrinkled. It was the first time he realized that touch didn’t always hurt.

Liam: gunpowder, sweat, cheap cologne, the faint whiff of cigarettes, coffee grounds, that dry scent that tells you he’s carrying money in his pockets. He's got a musky scent, but it's comforting all the same.

Maya: jasmine shampoo, pine trees, leather, coconut lotion, the faint scent of smoke. She doesn't like perfume because it overwhelms her and hurts her nose, so she smells very natural.

002: envelopes, printer ink, the cold metal of his handgun, expensive liquor, the imperceptible scent of takeout. He likes to wear expensive colognes because he never had that growing up, and now that he has the freedom to choose what he wants he gets the best luxury brands he never could have afforded. Also, since he is the current leader of the Numbers he feels like he has an image to keep up.

016: gun oil, machinery, pencil dust, old books, buttery popcorn, the faded aroma of baked sweets, the earthy scent of rain on hot pavement.

032: campfires, cinnamon, late night espresso shots, sharpies, the faint scent of blood, that familiar smell computers seem to have.

008: charred flesh, explosions, sizzling steam of cooking oil on a hot pan, spicy cologne, musk

018: spilled ink, gunpowder, grease, eyeliner shavings, antiseptic liquid, the rubber smell of bandages.

003: lavender, the spray of blood, heavy lilac perfume, the sharp scent of steel from the knives under her dress, glossy hair conditioner, silk pillowcases, ashes, dwindling wax candles, the sickly sweet stench of rotten bodies under flowerbeds.

Alice: earthy soil, rainy days, smoke from city cars, cedar perfume, rich essential oils, flower bouquets for her brother, the cold scent of days spent in the hospital, lemon hand soap, curl mousse. She smells like a mix of a rainy city night and a woodsy forest. 

004: blood, sweat, rust, copper, fried chicken and beer, the sharp tang of something sour, and the unnamable scent of wildness that comes from being in nature. He smells both of a humid jungle after rainfall and a restaurant during rush hour.

Seoha Cha: flowers, warm amber, sweet caramel body oil, brown sugar scrubs, hints of sandalwood. She opts for sweeter, heady scents where you can practically taste them on your tongue, and it's intoxicating.

Jiye Sin: tea, french vanilla, the light fragrance of high-quality fabrics, and the faint aroma of fruity shampoo. She makes the point of wearing very expensive perfume, but it pays off because she always gets complimented on how alluring her scent is. The first time Major Kang smelled her scent he instantly fell in love with it. 

Yeona Sin: vanilla lotion, banana milk, frozen blueberry popsicles, sweet-mint lip balm, fruity shampoo, the faint smell of fast food. She really loves scented hygiene products even though she has slightly sensitive skin, which leaves her with scratchy red spots all over her body.

Seokju Ko: pens, hair spray, new novels, the imperceptible hint of blood from paper cuts, the faint whiff of ocean breeze, the scent of gym equipment after a workout. When he first officially joined the SW security team he wore a really heavy cologne to appear more grown up to his coworkers. To his embarrassment, unfortunately it had the opposite effect and his coworkers pestered him with different cologne suggestions. Now he chooses a lighter, more cleaner fragrance that suits him better.
