Minseok would show him. He grumbled dejectedly, fingers curling around the straps of his backpack as he stomped off. He’d show Daddy not to underestimate him. Not to brush him off all the time like anything and everything he said lacked real importance.
He never got angry angry. Minseok knew that try as he might, he was seldom deemed threatening enough for anyone to take him seriously. A simple test, to see if Daddy would even bother. And sure enough, Chanyeol hadn’t. Only a “Sure, baby.” and that had set Minseok off, face set and marching right out the door. His tone hadn’t been playful when he spoke, he’d use his normal voice, his adult voice, per se. The one he used when he was being serious. But Chanyeol had brushed him off as always.
He stifled a broken sob as he wiped furiously at his eyes, finger jamming the lift button until he decided to make a dash for the stairs – only making it as far as one floor down before he breaks down completely and huddles into a corner on the steps, knees hugged to his chest as he cries freely. Chanyeol didn’tseem to care, but Minseok knew he did. He did in all the little kisses and hugs and presents and all their time spent together. But he just wanted– to be taken more seriously. To know that Daddy wanted him around and not that he was just a plaything that could be thrown away at anytime. Would it have killed him to just show a little concern earlier, at least ask where– or why he was leaving? Stupid Daddy.
Chanyeol pushes off from his spot, confused and frowning. He had been serious? Minseok is nowhere and when Chanyeol makes it out the door, he only catches the edge of the backpack the other had been carrying around before it disappears.
Chanyeol only goes back inside to put on a pair of shoes, before he’s jogging down towards the stair case door. The first thing he hears is sniffled, broken sobs. He looks over the railing, and the moment he sees the graphic of the colorful backpack of the backpack looking right back at him, he’s practically hurling himself down the stairs, taking two steps at a time as he tries to reach his baby boy. There’s panic and concern as he finally makes it down the stairs, immediately diving down to place his hands over his little boy.
“Baby? What happened? Why did you leave like that? Are you okay?” There’s several other questions, but the one that most concerns him now is why the other’s crying. “Minseok?”
