InI love seeing Bang Won being tender with his kid. Itโs such a small, seemingly throwaway scene, but it gives him humanity - this drama uses its sparse running time very efficiently. (Not to mention itโs literally the only OK father-son relationship weโve seen in this drama, if we donโt countย โalmost two decades ago, my dad was sentenced to be boiled alive but before that he was an A+ dadโ Hwi has going.)
Jang Hyuk continues to thoroughly and professionally steal the drama. But then heโs been doing sageuks when the main trio were still in elementary school. This scene! Shivers! (I wonder how and if the dynamic is going to change when Hwi switches his loyalty to Bang Won for real.)
I laughed at this! Even a gisaeng house madam (however smart she is, the king and his high court are supposed to be more politically savvy) realizes this as a fact, but the King and his greedy idiot ministers do not!
In non Bang Won news, perhaps it would be more convincing that you can shoot her, if she didnโt see her ribbon hanging from your bow. Itโs pretty symbolic, imo - Hwi cannot let go of his humanity no matter how he tries. When his hand starts shaking on the bowstring...
And this! Itโs both a traditional role reversal and OMG he finally has someone in his corner! Heโs been taking care of everyone and now...He needs this so badly.
In conclusion, you are bad and you should feel bad.
I want someone to be attached to me like how attached Seonho is to Minhyun. I want that kind of relationship. So pure and simple.
