HE KNEW SOMETHING WAS OFF. The first clue was that the house looked abandoned; the windows dark, and he couldn’t even spot the flicker of a computer screen reflecting in them, which usually meant the Professor had just fallen asleep on his desk again and not noticed time had passed. The second clue was that the door was locked. He had sent a message to the Professor earlier this afternoon that he would come over because his glasses were acting up and needed to be looked at; and the Professor had agreed that this afternoon wouldn’t interfere with any other plans he had. So – the door should be unlocked as it always was.
He had unlocked the door with a key hidden close by and after silently changing into the slippers in the entrance – just in case his gut feeling was wrong, and the Doctor has just fallen asleep at his desk again -, he made his way through the building. Slow and methodical. The living room first, but, of course, NO LUCK.
It looked, however, completely untouched. Nothing out of the ordinary, with the children’s homework still splayed out on the coffee table.
Next – downstairs, he figured. The Professor’s workspace was in the basement after all and perhaps, he was just there; time forgotten while he was working on his latest, possible explosive, invention. And there was a sound coming from the basement, too, he noticed, as he got closer to the door. Footsteps? Unlike the Professor’s these weren’t heavy footsteps on the old staircase. It also couldn’t be Haibara’s, knowing she was currently stuck babysitting with the others.
Slowly he raised his wrist and unlocked the stun-gun’s mechanism, ready to aim, as the door opened.
He was right. It hadn’t been the Professor coming up the stairs, nor the figure of a seven-year-old girl. No. But it was a woman. With something sparkling in her eyes, that made a shiver run down his spine, he couldn’t help thinking that SHE might be a member of the organisation. Had they finally found them? Was he face to face with another agent sent to eliminate Haibara and himself?
“Who are you? And what are you doing here?” His voice surprisingly steady, he didn’t show any signs of lowering the improvised weapon aiming at her neck. It would at least buy him some time to come up with a better plan. That was, IF she wasn’t immune to the tranquilliser just as Gin had been. | @separateways LIKED.
It almost tickles.
Happy Separate Ways Day, Adawongnation!

Hudson: Still mad at me over the other night???
i like a little honest advertising, if you're lucky enough to know my profession.
the best part is that she never will and that's what makes it excellent.
first impression was something akin to "oh, hey, i think that's the rika rper i've seen floating around. that's cool. can't wait to meet them through cas and welcome them to the resident evil rpc." which is incredibly boring, i admit, but those were my thoughts at the time
//You saw me on Rika before??? Oh lord im embarrassed now LOL
Still, happy to know I lived up to expectations pfft
A dark alley. A chill in the air. For this part of the planet, it was actually really fucking cold, and she wondered why she had agreed to it in the first place, even though she knew the answer. The money. Plain and simple. The bounty on this guy was high and even split between three, a nice sum would belong to her. It was enough motivation for her to keep walking, while she was pulling the coat she had thrown around her shoulders tighter. While most times it wasn’t right to call her a complainer, not a quitter (as she tended to do both things simultaneously), she wouldn’t just give up this opportunity now. But why couldn’t she have met this contact somewhere nicer? Why did it always have to be in the middle of nowhere?
And then she wasn’t even meeting Jet’s old contact! She was meeting a contact of said contact. Uargh! Why could things never be simple? Why did everyone have to make life more complicated than it already was?
Her shoulders hanging, she kept walking until she reached the broken down neon sign, that was her cue to turn right into another dark alley, where finally her eyes fell on another person. A woman. Dark-haired. Surprisingly good-looking for someone who knew one of Jet’s old contacts with the ISSP, who all looked to Faye as though they had seen the wrong end of a barrel a few times too often.
“ – Terrible place for a meeting, right? The boys never have any good ideas.” | @separateways LIKED.
