Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette Review:
The Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette is a palette that features three different shades which are all meant to mimic the most flattering types of light on the skin. The technology behind it is suppose to soften and blur the appearance of any imperfections on the face, while adding a subtle luminous glow wherever it is applied. The finishing powders enhance skin in any lighting, including flash photography. From left to right the shades are as followed: radiant light, incandescent light, and dim light. While there are no specific rules to using any of these powders, I personally use radiant light in replacement of bronzer, incandescent light as a highlight for the high points of my face, and dim light as an all over face powder. In Canada, the Ambient Lighting Palette retails for $67, making it more of an expensive purchase than most other palettes for it’s quantity. Its overall rating on Sephora (where I purchased it) was 4.4 out of 5 stars. This product is ideal for many different consumers for many different reasons. Most facial powders we tend to use on top of foundation or concealer as a finishing powder. This palette however does not require any base makeup underneath it, although it just as easily can be used as a top layer as well. I find on days that I am in a rush or do not necessarily feel like doing my makeup, but would like to feel a little more put together, I swipe these powders across my face and my skin instantly looks blurred and like I am glowing from within without any effort. The only cons I have to this palette are the price and the size of the powders. With tax this palette was $75, but each powder is incredibly small. While you do not have to use much at all, I do find it is expensive when you compare it to other palettes for its sizing. The shades are very pigmented, and a little goes a long way. This palette is definitely best targeted for those of us who prefer sheer coverage and a natural finish. While I did hesitate for a while on buying it, It truly does make your skin appear flawless and it was worth the splurge. I would recommend this product to anyone who was considering purchasing it.
