I stepped out of the portal, my body aching, somehow sore from travelling back in time. I prepared myself to wait for Quince’s arrival, wishing to welcome him to my time with a smile, wanting the first thing he saw to be me.

I stepped out of the portal, my body aching, somehow sore from travelling back in time. I prepared myself to wait for Quince’s arrival, wishing to welcome him to my time with a smile, wanting the first thing he saw to be me.
Quince had brought me to a store, unusual for a date. I soon discovered Quince’s plans. It was a bot shop. Any man’s dream.
I made sure to return before Quince. I knew his schedule by this point and I had found his personal computer. It was time to discover this “proof” he spoke about.
Quince was right. The fresh air did me good. I did not even mind the rain.
Quince had of course noticed, he knew why my behaviour had changed and suggested some time outside. There was no way I could refuse.
As much as it made me happy it also made my heart ache. I knew Quince felt the same. I knew yet I could not smile like he did.
Part of me wanted to distance myself from Quince, bury myself in my work, but my eyes kept drifting to wherever Quince was.
