@sequelslasher ( my beloved ) —— habits and mannerisms for the prompt!
character headcanons.
he’ll wet or bite his bottom lip when he’s thinking, tear the skin off when they’re thoroughly chapped, then pick at the scab when it starts to heal. he’s got it somewhat controlled, but some weeks are definitely worse than others.
he likes to roll his neck when he’s just standing somewhere, his arms crossed, feet shoulder width apart. doesn’t really shift his weight between feet. if he’s anxious, he’ll tap his fingers against his biceps or he’ll begin to pace. has a tendency to keep eye contact. only avoids it when he’s visibly upset —— red / teary eyes, quivering lip, whole shabang. when walking, he keeps his eyes straight ahead, though he’ll occasionally turn his head if a person ( read: christian murphy ) is accompanying him. when sitting in a room, during a conversation, he either maintains eye contact, like stated before, or he’ll have that thousand yard stare into the corner, at the floor —— which is not a good sign.
he doesn’t really clench and unclench his fists, but he will kind of. curl his fingers toward his palm and flex them back out. he stretches his hands and cracks his knuckles often. does it whenever he’s sitting down, especially if he’s sitting in silence, with nothing else to do. he inspects his hands regularly, looks at the scars, traces them absentmindedly, sometimes picks at what he no longer has bandaged as far as cuts or scrapes go. he doesn’t cross his legs, but he’ll rest one ankle atop the opposite knee so he can read or journal on his lap more comfortably. he always has a quarter or two in his pocket so he can roll them over his knuckles. something he usually does, again, when sitting down and waiting. he goes through phases of chewing gum —— a fifteen piece pack will usually last him two, maybe three days max, he’ll chew gum for a week straight, and then he’ll go weeks without chewing any at all.
he doesn’t really keep a nighttime routine, but after showering in the evening ( he showers twice a day, if possible, there are some periods where he’s not able to shower for two, three days at a time and he hates the way it makes him feel ) he’ll sit down to journal —— he’ll write down the day’s events, the things he wants to commit to memory, like christian’s go-to order for any specific place, the lookout points they stopped by while on the road, and underneath every picture he tapes to the edge of the page, he’ll write down everything he can remember about that specific moment —— he wants to remember the good things. since he keeps a pen in his pocket ( read: three pens ) he’ll draw on receipts or napkins if christian and him are waiting for food at a diner, talking at a bakery, eating breakfast in a motel breakfast bar, etc.
and, with that said, his drawn depiction of christian literally began as a scribble with fangs until he started warming up to him again. after that, he actually tried to get his hair and eyes right. if he’s not drawing christian, then it’s little still lifes of the objects around them —— his coffee mug, the salt and pepper shakers, the unmoved condiments all lined up, etc.
and I know this doesn’t really fit but I’m adding it anyways —— good liquor disappears around him like water in a desert.
