Imagine with me, if you will, a world where bioware has deigned to give us one(1)!!! Non-abusive (variably)canonical lesbian relationship! Imagine with me a world where Sera was written by a writer who respected her as a character, and the political ideas she was written to have, and she was written in a way where Other Characters Were Allowed To Actually Respect Her And Treat Her As More Than A Joke Or Nuisance. Imagine with me if you will a world where the political ambassador of the Inquisition falls for the fun-loving, prank-playing, political rabble-rouser, (because yes we are absolutely still playing in a world where Sera is actively wanted, that's like a really important part of her tiny romance). And also! Sera! Of The Friends of Red Jenny! Of Course she'd be more than happy to listen to Josephine vent her frustrations with the nitty gritty ins and outs of her job! What an absolute motherfucking Goldmine of information that could be for her Friends!

Imagine a Josephine who likes and respects Sera enough to listen to her thoughts and opinions on things. Who's willing to actually hear her out on how she thinks certain big wig political decisions will affect the little guy and then actually takes her thoughts into account. Imagine a Josephine who understands Sera even when other people don't (though I don't think she's actually difficult to parse I think the dialog options you're given to respond to her are stupid af). Josephine who's able to take Sera's long windy rambles and turn them into something eloquent that will have other people nodding along and agreeing and actually listening for once.

And Sera who is so good at reminding people that they are Just That! People! Regular people! No matter how big or fancy or important they are! Josie needs that! She's so caught up in her work and consistently working too hard and too long- Sera, someone who could force her to take breaks in fun playful silly ways could be wonderful for her.

Also I don't have anything at all solid or thought out for this but like the idea of some kind of duel for Josie's hand still being proposed is great to me. Like I don't think Sera would participate in some stupid fancy pants noble duel but I'd love to see what kind of humiliating prank she'd come up with to play on the guy instead.

12. The unpopular character that you actually like and why more people should like them

There was a moment where I lived in a beautiful world where I had forgotten that multiple of my favorites in Dragon Age are actually some of the most widely disliked characters in fandom. A, small, fleeting, beautiful instance in which I, tumblr user “TheRedJenny”, legitimately had the thought “oh no! I don’t know if I’ll be able to answer this one! I’m pretty sure all the characters I like are already pretty popular” (god I love my curated niche corner of this fandom that isn’t like. Evil).

So uh. Y’know. Sera. It’s- it’s Sera. It’s gotta be Sera. I’m contractually obligated via blog name to say Sera(Honorable mention here goes to Vivienne of course).

Why more people should like her: I cannot imagine I need to convince anyone following me b/c we respect women and value lesbians on this blog. But anyways. Literally none of the shit she’s widely hated for is anything some incredibly popular male character doesn’t also do, but probably more and worse, at some point in the series. I think she’s probably one of the most down to earth and rational companions in the game, of course she suffers from being criminally underwritten and being written by a writer who’s blatantly misogynistic and lesbophobic- BUT I do not think that should count against her b/c there’s nothing in this world fandom loves more than taking some underwritten male character with the most cardboard personality and projecting loads of depth onto the guy that just doesn’t fucking exist in canon.

Like you’re out there doing a bunch of big picture shit with a lot of people whispering in your ear about how this or that will affect the nobility or the chantry or entire countries or whatever. Meanwhile Sera is there in the background like ‘Hey!!! Dumbass!!!!! Don’t forget about regular people!!!!!! Poor people exist and matter too!!!!!!!! THE SHIT YOU’RE DOING AFFECTS THEM TOO YOU SHOULD CONSIDER THAT AND NOT JUST PRIORITIZE THE PEOPLE WHO ALREADY HAVE IT BETTER THAN EVERYONE ELSE!!!!!’ (Fucking criminal that bioware didn’t like. Do more with that. If you ask me. Like whyyyyy didn’t they make her more relevant(I know why).

Also the bees. Also there’s the bees. I killed corypheus with the bees in my first playthru. I have since vowed to do that in every universe if I ever actually complete another playthru.

If the world were just and fair and cared about women people would be just as insane about SeraJosie as they are about Dorian/Bull and there would be just as much art and fic but alas!!!!!!!
