Max laughed as he wrapped arms around Elixir and rested his cheek on the top of the other's head as he held onto him. "You need to raise the bar on what to be grateful for, you deserve more. I just make sure you have enough resources to stay alive. Make you drink water, eat food, sleep in a bed." Max really thought Elixir should care for himself more, it was hard to be his normal snarky shitty self when the other seemed so vulnerable all the time. It was like kicking a dog. He couldn't bring himself to do it.
Max didn't think he was being a hero or anything of the sort he just- said what was on his mind. "You shouldn't work yourself to the bone like you do, it's not like we get paid. Just...do the bare minimum some days. Not every day is a war effort."
