SERENITY: YIQING HUANG

London College of Fashion, Arts SU Gallery is delighted to present an exhibition of photography by Fashion Design and Development student Yiqing Huang.

Mexican architect Luis Barragán believed that “any work of architecture which does not express serenity is a mistake”. This inspired Yiqing to create a series of natural photographs which express the feeling of serenity.

Yiqing has documented the photo process throughout the year in several countries around the world. Collectively, the photographs reflect a dreamy wonderland, and create a sense of tranquillity. The exhibition also features a textile design, which has an experimental 3D visual effect that will feature in Yiqing’s future fashion collection. “Serenity” is characterized by a mixture of floral prints and tropical plants with colourful backgrounds. Building a calmness emotion into the design and easing the pace of busy city life.

Yiqing Huang was born in Shenzhen, China (1994), and now lives and studies in UK. Initially trained in fashion design, she is also specialising prints and textile design. In the age of 18, Yiqing had her first fashion exhibition in Shenzhen, 2012. This was a charity exhibition for children who has congenital heart disease, she raised around £4000 pounds through selling her fashion design collection.
