A blog sounds nice
Greetings, surfer of not only waves, but also the inter "webs". Welcome to my tumblr page. I think. My username may have tipped you off to the fact that I go by 'Dash' on the internet. I've been making digital art for over a decade now, I spend more time developing games than I do playing them, and I make music from time to time. I'm also quite special, in the sense that I'm the only fan of the Mother series in all of Sweden. (I have yet to find proof to the contrary...) To be frank, I'm not a fan of social media. The rampant toxicity, hyperbole, and general pressure has put me off from sites like Twitter and Facebook entirely. Though, I've been fond of the idea of having my own little space on the internet, so I'm giving this a shot. Hmm... Come to think of it, giving someone "their own space" online sounds really catchy. Someone should make a site like that, I bet it'd really take off. Now, if I may stop being "Frank" by returning to my natural "Dash" state... I made a game called DISHARMONY a few years ago. It got a remaster a couple years later. I think the game is alright, but I know I'm capable of making something much, much better. I'm currently working on its more ambitious sequel, Serenity, which you'll soon be able to find on Steam as soon as I finish the initial art assets for it. The game is what I tend to call a 'rhythm RPG'. It has a world shown from a top-down perspective, and a turn-based combat system, but the way you fight enemies is by playing a variety of rhythm-based minigames. Its development has been exceptionally smooth this past year or so. My current plan is to primarily use this blog to talk about Serenity and its development-- A devlog, basically. Though, I'll be treating it a little less formally than I have in the past. (This long, mostly-correctly-formatted text dump isn't setting a great example of that...) I've made a series of devlogs for the game over on YouTube already, which you can find linked in the blog description(?) at the time of writing. While I don't intend to stop making video devlogs, I find this format a lot easier to work with, both because it requires much less time and effort, and also because I feel that I'm better at expressing myself through text than I am in front of a camera, or behind a microphone. I'll have more to say about this in the future. But, I won't be focusing exclusively on Serenity. I'll also share some art from time to time, or just post little updates, I guess. I'm currently challenging myself to draw something every day for a hundred days straight, with today being day #3. If I make something I'm happy with, I might post it. I'll explain more about the purpose of the whole hundred day thing when I actually make a post dedicated to it. Oh, and while we're on the topic of art... I don't want to bring this up very often, because I prefer to focus on things I like, but I would just like to establish that I am heavily against the use of generative AI, whether it be for images, text, audio, or whatever else. You won't see me use it, and I won't tolerate people trying to promote it when used in the context of my work. I technically have a tumblr page dedicated entirely to game dev. It was used to advertise DISHARMONY for a while. My friend Kacper helped me run it, and apparently it got followers and stuff. We didn't notice until like a year after we stopped using it. Oops. But hey, keep an eye open over there too, I guess. @boot-catstudio
I'm pretty illiterate when it comes to sites like these, so please forgive me if I use incorrect terminology or the like. ... Or don't. I would just find it preferable. Thank you for reading! I will now sign off. I don't know how to do that. Please picture me vanishing into a deep mist, all dramatic and mysterious and stuff.
