This year, decided to bring Serge on AF as well because I'm a little too into him as a character (nvm he's a FOURTH plane character who never appears in the plot), so ofc he needed an icon!

✧On Jacques' relationship with his father

There's a song, and a little lore/mood text below!

Jacques never truly wanted to play an instrument, it was mostly his father's requirement. But nevertheless, he always loved music - and his father's play, so much more profound than his own, felt captivating. As a child, he would sit for however long behind the door of Mr. Marron's cabinet, listening and trying to understand what is it his father played about.

Then, he went on with his own life, left his violin and the music sheets at their family house, and never played again. After his father's death, he sold his own instrument without a tingle of doubt. Serge's violin, though? Tucked safely in its case, found its new resting place in Jacques' library room deepest closet. Jacques will never play it.

But when in turmoil, he still will sit for however long listening to the records with music that vaguely reminds of the things his father used to play

Sooo I have that idea that I want to have a biiiiig height chart that includes aaaaaall the characters in rebellore. So far I haven't managed much of it, but!! You can have some crumbs 👀

2023 OCtober task: Childhood years

I tried to do an OCtober in 2023, featuring my main three favourites: Clopin, Eugène and Jacques. I didn't go very far, but some of the tasks I think are still pretty cool!

First half: Julieugenes

The very guys! The MCs!! The beginning and ending of this story!!

This part didn't give me any trouble, because their younger years is, well, what the whole arc of their story is dedicated to. In this piece, I tried to capture the difference of their worlds, and the dynamic between them at the same tims: Julien having a tough life from the get-go and being the agressive scaredy kitten he is, and Eugène being yet blissfully unaware of anything outside of his family's happy house

Second half: Jacques

This one was fun to think about! Because despite the fact that Jacques' childhood has no significant in the story and is barely even mentioned, it hold a dear place in my heart

He's had a pretty good one, if we're being honest. Sheltered, fed, warm, full of the things he liked; if only just a little lonely, as his father was about the only person he truly talked to for nearly 15 years of his life

My choice of characters is well... Clearly biased (intensely looking at Serge who's not even an _in-plot_ character and still got his share)

"Necessities"

I'm feeling like my tumblr is a bit tired of me posting sm big stuff so have a lil sketchy thing today vhvh

Since I posted that Jacques & Serge big thing, I feel like it'd be nice to also post that little comic - with some lore info under the cut for the curious ones >:3

Soo as you know, my story takes place in the early 20th century, and while WW2 hasn't happened in this alternative timeline, WW1 started as it did in real world, and went almost similarly. And Jacques, being born at 1904, was a child/early teen during it.

So, when the war started, his father, being close enough to the government and knowing pretty well how dangerous things can get, did the most important thing first - moved his only son to a completely different town that would be have a lesser chance to be attacked than Paris, aka the literal capital. So, they had to temporary move to a whole new town, and Jacques, who never in his life even left Paris atp, had quite a lot of trouble with it

Like, for instance, figuring out what "necessities only" truly meant x))
