House Warming Gift

So I just moved into my new apartment in Savannah and after a 2 weeks of work I finally got my internet installed. Below is the first internet chat from my co worker and long time friend.

Context: She had just asked me my opinion on two images being approved for marketing.

Me: I'm between 5 and 2 but it's Alexia's (Art Director) call

I want to just go ahead and order a small meal from the thai restaurant next door,  but every time i lift up my blanket to search for my phone i decide against it. chicago, why you so cold?

Liking 'Stupid' Things...

So I'm reading all this stuff on fandoms and whatnot all across the internet...

And if there's something that impressed/was liked by a large number of the people in the fandom, why would you call them stupid? And if you were one of those impressed, why would you start a fight over it with the other person?

For instance, I was reading about the ending to Code Geass. A few people were calling it outright stupid and a few others brilliant. I'll admit to it that while it isn't the best ending ever, I thought it was pretty damn good. I mean, I've watched a bit of anime. I've seen much, much worse, especially from series that seemed like they were kind of...making it up as they go. Like Code Geass.

But the point is, the first few who hated it were outright insulting the others, saying it wouldn't work in the long run and that they were stupid for liking it. First off, screw you it's an opinion. Second, no one is stupid for liking something even if it IS outright bad. You can roll your eyes at Twilight fangirls all you want, but that doesn't mean the fangirl herself is stupid. I've met quite a few girls who surprised me at first because despite being very intelligent and independent, they liked the series. It was weird to me until I realized that how smart you are (or believe you are) really doesn't have as much an impact on the things you like as it's usually portrayed. I've known some very smart folks who just like a fart joke here and there. This is why we have things called "guilty pleasures." Because we know they're dumb and like them anyway. It does not mean the person who likes them is dumb.

Okay. That was my thought. XD

(BTW- I didn't think Lelouch's plan was supposed to succeed in the long run. It was supposed to succeed in the short run, then the people left who had known him/been Geass'd by him (like his brother) would run it from there and try not to blow everything up. Just leaving it to them...)
