Servillo is a tired, disaffected Italian president, served through six state crises, a sharp former professor and jurist, in love with the law, and a Christian haunted by the absence of his deceased wife.
Before the end of his term, he is faced with approving a law about euthanasia and two requests for pardons for a man and a woman who killed their respective partner.
The storytelling is as graceful and moderate as the main character. Servillo is clay in the hands of Sorrentino, and the duo are a winning all.
