Happy birthday to Sesa 'Refumee!

Today is his -474th birthday!

'Refumee was assigned to the Fleet of Particular Justice, lead by then-Supreme Commander Thel 'Vadam(ee), during the close of the Human-Covenant war. His unit was sent to investigate a Forerunner gas mine for study and artifact retrieval. When most of the Fleet of Particular Justice was destroyed after the events of Installation 04, 'Refumee and his unit were left stranded at the gas mine.

Shortly thereafter, 343 Guilty Spark, who fled Installation 04 following its destruction, met 'Refumee at the gas mine. Spark and 'Refumee engaged in a lengthy discussion about their respective origins, during which Spark exposed the true purpose of the Halos, the fate of the Forerunners, and the reality of the Flood. 'Refumee was convinced, and cut off communication with the fleet. He considered telling 'Vadam about his revelations, but at this point, the Supreme Commander had already been publicly disgraced and appointed as Arbiter, creating an obstacle in contacting him.

However, 'Vadam would seek him out on his own--sent to kill 'Refumee for his proselytization at the behest of the Hierarchs. 'Vadam and Rtas 'Vadum led a strike team to the gas mine in search of the heretic leader. In an attempt to evade his pursuers, he released the Flood, but his plan would backfire and he would eventually become cornered by 'Vadam.

Once confronted, 'Refumee tried to convince 'Vadam of the truth. The Arbiter was expectedly resistant to his words, but did not attack until 'Refumee himself became hostile. 'Vadam killed 'Refumee, putting an end to his teachings but planting the first seeds of doubt in his mind.

In the post-Schism world, 'Vadam recognizes that 'Refumee was entirely correct about his revelations, and regrets taking his life. He has attempted to make amends with 'Refum keep, whose members are given special consideration to join the Swords of Sanghelios.

Sesa 'Refumee:

Debuted in Halo 2

Born July 11th, 2499, Sesa led an artifact retrieval group within the Fleet of Particular Justice. During the events at Installation 04, his group would be sent to a nearby Forerunner gas mine above Threshold, causing them to be stranded after the destruction of the Halo Ring and subsequent retreat of the fleet. It was there that the monitor 343 Guilty Spark would meet with Sesa, informing the Sangheili of the truth of the Forerunners and the Halos. Because of this, Sesa and his group would turn against the Covenant, causing his former commander to be sent to deal with him as the Arbiter. Even though conversations with the monitor revealed his trust in Thel, he would ultimately conclude that the new Arbiter would never listen and chose to duel him - leading to his demise. Not long after his death, that very Arbiter would go on to learn the same truths and lead the Sangheili in the Great Schism. After the warm, Thel would also grant special dispensation to members of 'Refum Keep in the Swords of Sanghelios.

Tul 'Juran:

Debuted in Halo: Shadow of Intent

Born on Rahnelo as the sole daughter of Kaiden Tulum 'Juranai on Jan. 29th, 2535, Tul served as the captain of the guard and scion to her family's keep, wielding an energy lance. In 2553, the Prelate Tem'Bhetek attacked and captured her father and older brothers, leading to a request to join the Shadow of Intent to carry out a "right of release". In a clash with the Prelate, she learned her family members were killed, but continued to aid the Shadow of Intent in their mission. She would join a small group of volunteers to destroy a prototype Halo that the Prelate's boss hoped to kill the Sangheili species with, helping Rtas 'Vadum in killing the Minister of Preparation. Following a briefing by Rtas 'Vadum to Thel 'Vadam, her performance led to both agreeing that the restrictions on female military service should be lifted.

OKAY SO I WANT EVERYONE TO BE CLEAR HERE ON THE ARBITER (Thel Vadam). HE WAS THE SUPREME COMMANDER OF THE FLEET OF PARTICULAR JUSTICE, OR THE COVENANT YOU FACED ON ALPHA HALO IN COMBAT EVOLVED THAT HAD FOLLOWED YOU ALL THE WAY TO THRESHOLD FROM REACH.

So basically, he was leading that fleet, and in Halo 2 the Prophets accused him of allowing 1) for the humans to land on the ring and b) for the ring to be destroyed, when in reality what happened was there was a minor prophet in his fleet that was trying to usurp his position and take control of the mission.

To the prophet, the involvement of such an important holy relic such as a sacred forerunner ring had just turned this operation into a religious matter.

So no, Thel was not dumbstruck by the ring, he was trying to manage an entire fleet, do battle and stave off humans on the ring, deal with other problems arising such as the parasite on the surface of the ring threatening to board his ships and overtake his fleet, one of his high-ranking officers (Rtas Vadumee) returning alone from what was supposed to be a by the book check in on an agricultural ship that had seemingly gone dark, mangled after a run in with the Flood left him dismembered and teamless, all the while trying to keep his hands on the reigns so the prophet didn't derail his whole operation.

It's okay though, because the decisions that prophet made led to the Heretic Uprising, and eventually the Great Schism. I just want y'all to realize Thel was a brilliant tactician and a glorious fighter. He wasn't what the prophets made him out to be, made the Covenant believe he was, made him believe he was.

Even Guilty Spark told Sesa Refumee (the Heretic Leader) that the Prophets have always been lying and manipulative.
